Limage, The CD Album can be brought from HMV for arround $80 Dollars (they have some expensive one, but O choose the cheapest one produced by HMV) , please choose those which have clip file instead of those which are fixed, it will be more convient if you CD grow in numbers. One album can take arround 100 CD if you store you CD like me. |

| [#2029] What are you listening to? Last few days, I have went through few disc of Beethoven's piano sonatas played by Heidsieck. Most of the sonatas I listened to are early piano sonatas which I expect to be played with charm, however Heidsieck playing was too boring. Heidsieck put me into sleep, while Gulda can always make me tap my feet. Most of the time Heidsieck choose a leisure tempo, his touch were honest but anaemic when compare with the colorful piano tone produced by Gulda. I hope he will get better in late piano sonatas, but I am afraid he cannot sit alongside other great pianist like Gilels, Gulda or Kempff.  |

| [#2031] What are you listening to? 早前聽van Beinum的Decca套裝，聽到兩首荷蘭作曲家Diepenbrock（1862-1921）的作品，於是找來這套雙碟裝，這個錄音原屬Chandos，碟一是管弦樂，碟二是交響歌曲。原來以前也在Decca的唱片聽過Diepenbrock：Chailly的馬勒第七，就是以Diepenbrock的Im Grossen Schweigen填滿碟二，可惜沒收入交響曲全集的套裝。 Diepenbrock的管弦風格可謂法國印象派及德國後浪漫派之間，常讓小提琴拉極高音，木管有很多獨奏，如果用別人的作品作比喻，可舉Schoenberg的Gurre-Lieder為例。他的音樂溫柔綺麗，用小冊子的一句話，可以用他的一首作品總結他的風格，就是「給黑夜的頌歌」。 在van Beinum套裝聽到的Marsyas選段，這堣]聽得到，而且還額外多三樂章。這媗弗o到華格納的影子，有一個主題彷彿是從諸神的黃昏中的日出借來。如果你喜歡Scriabin或Szymanowski的管弦樂，這首Marsyas可以一聽。而為小提琴及樂隊而寫的Hymne，頭幾個音像透了Elgar的Salut d'Amour。 碟二我更喜歡，這埵玷四套歌曲，但並非以人聲作主導，往往由管弦樂先將情景勾劃出，才由歌手唱出詩篇（都是德國詩人所作）。至於管弦樂的細節，比碟一的管弦樂曲更為精細。不過，不知有心或無意，在第二套歌曲Die Nacht的第一樂章，一開始就出現了巴哈第二大提琴組曲的頭三粒音，Diepenbrock這個人，那麼喜歡致敬嗎？ Diepenbrock: Orchestral Works and Symphonic Songs Residentie Orchestra The Hague Hans Vonk  |

| [#2032] What are you listening to? 這兩張CD都是BBC錄製，未曾推出的現場錄音。Diabelli變奏曲錄於2001年，大約在1989年， Brendel也為Philips錄過CD。Diabelli變奏曲是貝多芬開的一大玩笑，我較喜歡將每個變奏曲的特色展現的演繹，Brendel的演奏，似是較注重整體的脈絡，而且對我來說，詼諧感不夠。 第二隻碟就奇怪一點，先有1968年在BBC錄音室錄的蕭邦。Brendel在Philips的莫扎特及貝多芬錄音十分馳名，他在年輕時在Vanguard或Vox也有點蕭邦錄音，到底是他個人的轉變，或唱片公司的市場導向，塑造了這個德奧鋼琴音樂專家？在蕭邦的行版中，你會聽到Brendel對鋼琴發音早趨化境，不必矯情也詩意洋溢，只是之後的大波蘭舞曲太克制，這首仍是是全碟最值得聽的一首。 這張碟對Brendel粉絲來說，有無窮吸引力。但對普通樂迷而言，這是不是一個非買不同的唱片呢？錄音水準次級，就算是2001年的Diabelli也是一樣；兩首貝多芬也不是特別出眾，真的跟他的錄音室唱片有很大進步嗎？這唱片是典型的歷史現場錄音：音響次級，演繹不出眾，看準粉絲的錢包。還好，這雙CD賣一隻價。 Beethoven: Diabelli Variations, Piano Sonta No. 28 Chopin: Andante spianato & Grande Polonaise Mendelssohn: Variations serieuses Busoni: Elegies No. 3 & 6 Alfred Brendel (piano) Philips 475 8322 (2 CD)  |

I'm particularly impressed that you can even remember the amount down to the decimal - a great purchase does stay with the memory (so is a failed one)! I never actually attempt to collect Richter's recordings, which is simply an impossibility. Nevertheless, the Praga set is clearly something special based on from the disc of Prokofiev sonatas, which is the only one in the set that I have. Minpin |

| [#2035] What are you listening to? Trollope, Cpsjj & Minpin Thank for your discussion about Praga's CD bookset of Sviatoslav Richter, so pity that I missed a chance to buy this best buy coupling. Being immersed by the following LP with full of subtle phrasing, superb nuance and tranquility. Personally I opine this live account (1966 in Rome)of Richter's playing of certain excerpt piece of Bach WTC is much more breathtaking and in-depth than his later accounts of Innsbruck and Salzburg, if you want to listen the CD reissue, you can find it in the "In Memoriam" reissue. | [#2038] What are you listening to? Tchaikovsky piano trio in A minor, a piece in two movement dedicated to Nicholai Rubinstein, played by Pletnyov, Oliviera and Rosen in the early eighties. With Pletnyov in the leading role there is quite a strong Slavonic passion and the ensemble playing is precise reflecting accurately the mood, elegiac in the first movement and funereal in the final. |

| [#2043] What are you listening to? 這個弦樂三重奏版本，已有二十年歷史，編者Dmitry Sitkovetsky也跟麥斯基在Orfeo灌錄過，Sitkovetsky後來更編成弦樂隊版本，在Nonesuch錄成CD。單從錄音及演奏而言，這次DG的版本與Orfeo版差不多，分別在於這次有收錄重覆奏。我會給這碟打挺高分，但主觀上不喜歡這個編曲。 每次有改編巴哈樂曲的CD，小冊子總會不厭其煩的說，巴哈本人經常改編自己或別人的作品。言下之意，是你不要反對我們改編。改編當然大條道理，但不代表我要喜歡。我不喜歡的，是鍵盤（古鍵琴或鋼琴）與弦樂聲響的分別。彈鍵盤，聲量集中於彈下的一刻，Harmonics 消散很快，但弦樂的Harmonics卻能維持良久。我並不是懷疑巴哈會反對Sitkovetsky的改編，而是估計他不會buy改編成這樣。 當巴哈將韋華第的小提琴協奏曲，改編給古鍵琴時，將本來較單調及較少的音符增多。我先前說的聲響分別，可能促成他放多一點音符。所以，反轉來看，他要是將鍵盤曲編成弦樂，會否因弦樂維持聲響的特質，將音符減少呢？我聽這個版本的較快速變奏，覺得少了鍵盤的輕盈，但不是因為演奏者的技術不足，是因為弦樂變相將音符拉長。在緩慢的詠嘆調與第廿五變奏，疏落的音符本來有一種留白的美感，弦樂卻將畫紙填滿，原來的超然，變得沉重。再次強調，單就演奏，這隻CD是不錯的。但我的執迷，令我不喜歡這個改編。 Bach: Goldberg Variations (arr. for String Trio) Julian Rachlin (violin) Nobuki Imai (viola) Mischa Maisky (cello) DG 4776378 (CD)  |

| [#2044] What are you listening to? Johanna Martzy playing Bach's solo violin, sonata no. 1 and partita no.3, a recording made in 1962 and 1955 in mono. In the era where Heifetz, Menuhin and Milstein reign supreme, her Bach still stand out as playing with exceptional quality, impeccable technique and articulation. As critics had said, Heifetz may have the best of technique and virtuosity, but Bach lover will fall for her playing. The lp was reissued by Coup de Archet with more than acceptable violin sound,esp the sonata no. 1. |
