| [#2381] Mercury Living Presence SACD Yes. I bought the SACDs from WinWin. They sound good to me. I don't have the same CD for comparison. I do have Starker playing Dvorak Cello Concerto and the 1812, both on Mercury. However, it doesn't seem worthwhile to compare different recordings. Agree that products from certain countries do sound better than others. For example, my Japanese version of the Russian label Melodyia sounds better than those released by Harmonia Mundi. Anyway, I'm O.K. for HK or China products if their quality satisfies me. Besides, I don't have the Janis/Rach and Starker/Bach CD version. So I've no problem in buying the SACD version. Enjoy listening la! |

The colour of the leaflet is in light purple. Hope this helps. How do you think about the recording. I buy this believe the 2 performers are on the same cd, could easily compare. Tks ! |

| [#2392] Mercury Living Presence SACD Dear BenYC The Yu Li Na version, the violin does not have your mentioned problem - lying on the right side, probably you would like to replace a new one with your seller. Ifeel the Yu Li na performance is very straigh-forward, just like a person speaking very directly to you, the up and down between each note is narrow. T Nishizaki performance has make the music more decorated, especially when on the high pitch, Yu's performance is like pushing all the way up, Nishizaki is gently "LIFTING" the high pitch. Just like telling a story, Yu is speaking normally, Nishizaki is speaking with more gesture. But both speak good story of the song. This violin concerto is quite a CD for beginner's comparison. |

| [#2394] Mercury Living Presence SACD Hello KowloonKing, Thanks for the detail explanation and appreciated. For this piece, the Yu Li Na version I have doubted is by naxo. HKC-8.008. It was with Shanghai Conservatory SO and conducted by Fan Cheng-Wu. For myself, I like both Nishizhaki and Yu. Yu is more direct and passionate while Ni is more holdback and girly. To add a note, Yu actually have a few versions and they all give fairly different "mood". (I don't know how many available total. Only have the ones conductored by Chan, Fan, Lee) I noted Ni also have a few version but the one I have is the HK record with Gumma Symphony Orchestra. There are still some other violists that play this piece but usually they are so so....(Tried too hard to break the generally accepted way of playing but ended up over doing....) Happy listening. |
