[#2904] 回覆(40):Leak Club Hello John, I'm using ST-20. Do you have any idea about the Brand "Zaerix". I ever heard from foreign information that they made tube for Mullard, is it right? I got 4 pieces of EL84 on my ST-20 since I bought it. Also, do you have any idea about the sound performance of Marconi N709/EL84, compared with Mullard's. Thank you!

[#2906] 回覆(40):Leak Club Lundust I have limited knowledge on tubes, hope other brothers can help. BTW, how did you know Leak Stereo 20? From this R33 thread? : ) John

[#2909] 回覆(40):Leak Club Lundust: I do feel that Gold Lion N709/EL84 is made by Mullard...I prefer to use TFK rather than Mullard.

[#2910] 回覆(40):Leak Club "Zaerix" is a rebrander and NEVER made any tube itself. It sourced tubes from everywhere in the world but most from East Europe. Mullard EL84 is not particular good sounding and even modern Chinese 6P14"T" sound better. Early GEC N709 are good but much over-priced. And all Large Gold Lion N709 were made by Mullard but sound far better than generic Mullard.

[#2911] 回覆(40):Leak Club I prefer to use TFK rather than Mullard. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ That could indicate that the frequency response of your ears is rolling off at the highs... no offence, aging is natural :)

[#2912] 回覆(40):Leak Club Well, music listening is sort of a subjective thing. I am aging and my ears are deteriorating, but I prefer Mullard to TFK. JL

[#2913] 回覆(40):Leak Club On the other hand, to be fair, the aged caps of the vintage gear may also cause the rolling off

[#2916] 回覆(40):Leak Club "I thought the Russian 6P14P is better than the Mullards and TFK's but I then found Brimar is even better... my 2 cents" I happen to have these tubes. I agree that the Russian tubes are nice, but IMHO, I still think Mullard most suits my taste. Therefore, I must reiterate : Music enjoyment is pretty personal. BTW, many thanks, Stone Hing. I'd better shut up. JL

[#2918] 回覆(40):Leak Club One Russian 6P14 PI is quite good. Only the one with black mercury on top (barium). I only got two in SEPA ooperations. They can compare with Amperex BB 6BQ5. Also this Black 6P14 Pi works the best with East Germany TFK ECC81.
