BTW, just wanna ask brothers if your system can afford to overcome the complexities when playing O Freunde, nicht diese Tone! of Beethoven's No.9 Symphony. I find that when all sing in chorus, the speaker can hardly absorb both the high and low frequencies, making it almost out of control. A limiter/compresser device could help a bit but the effect is so satifactory at all. I think it all attributes to my poor setup, esp. the speaker itself. |

| [#3174] What are you listening to? ( classical music) What a fresh morning of 2008! although bit chilly. Listen to Mozart's violin sonatas played by Henryk Szeryng and Ingrid Haebler, although the remaster recording have some background tape hiss and click, the recording was tureful and in fine analog. The performance was elegant and joyful. Szeryng violin tone was colorful, while his colboration with Haebler was intimate, although I would prefer Grumiaux's naturalness and Haskil's fluent playing, I also love thois version. What a fresh start from Mozart in 2008.  |

| [#3183] What are you listening to? ( classical music) Start listening to Prokofiev's Symphony No. 4&5 in complete symphony box by Gergiev last night. Symphony No.4 was written based on material initially written for ballet, the sound world of Prokofiev was innovative, the melody sound strange initially but was wonderful when you listen to it once again. Symphony No.5 was filled with the surrow and trauma after the second world war, the long melody line was screaming, telling us the grievance of losing a loved ones. Gergiev palying was red hot in symphoy No 4, and reflective in symphony No.5, recording by Philips was in fine digital recording and was very dynamic, may be too dynamic for last night listening. |

It's not worthwhile to buy the CD set as it costs more than HK$500 to get it from ebay. If it's available in the territory, I would then go to local CD shop. |
