[#3422] Leak Club Here are a pair of Early 18 watt 1950s KT66 Gaumont Kalee Duosonic Theatre amps. Each is 18 watts but also they incorporate a smaller amp and each has a built in speaker . The amps have serial numbers 246 and 247 !!!Tube lineup is a single U52 rectifier and 2 KT66 tubes . Rest are EF37a. Amps will come with ONLY the Mullard EF37A tubes. No reserve but be aware that although both worked when taken from the theatre they will need checking over before powering up. They are 240volt. Have read they were made by Leak but cannot find the reference. These are heavy so contact me for a shipping price to get them to you. There is a site on the Internet that has the Service manual for these. These are LARGE so please get an okay from your wife before you bid. Since nobody answered, I would cast my 2 cents.

The larger the surface area of the selenium rectifer, the higher the capacity for electrical current. The taller the stack of the selenium rectifier, the higher the voltage tolerance.

Since the selenium rectifier is big in size but it has 4 layers only, it is for the low voltage filament supply for 4 signal tubes (in red). ^___^

DC filament supply for small signal tubes is common but seldom seen for larger signal tubes as these. The original design of the amp must be very serious about hum reduction. But it is sure if the pair of KT66 was also provided with DC filament supply.

It is always a pleasure to listen to another pair of 12.1, especially with a pair of LS3/5A and Marantz 7.

I can see great efforts had been done by Colin to restore his 12.1. A wonderful work (like NOS)indeed.

Health check by Richard. I think Master YIM also agrees Colin 's first DIY is great : )
