The (only) 2 Piano Concerto of Mozart in minor keys (no. 20 & 24) are also my favorite. For Beethoven Piano Concerto set, I would also mention Decca Ashkenazy/Zubin Mehta/Wiener Philharmoniker The following Beethoven No.3 are in my collection, but have not listened to them yet. | [#3929] Paganini Concerto No.1 - Rabin Just listen to Paganini Violin Concerto No.1, played by Michael Rabin/Eugene Goossens/Philharmonia Orchestra. It seems that Rabin does not play the left-hand pizzicatos but staccato by bow instead. Nevertheless, it is a highly recommended recording. An interesting paragraph from the music note: As Paganini himself performed it, the Concerto actually sounded in E Flat rather than D; the orchestral parts were written and played in the higher key, and the soloist tuned his instrument up a half-tone and fingered his part in D, thereby gaining in brilliance and facility. |

| [#3930] Paganini Concerto No.1 - Rabin Just listen to 1st movement of Beethoven Piano Concerto No.3 ( Decca Ashkenazy/Solti/Chicago Symphony Orchestra ). The tempo is a bit fast and orchestra inclines to run even faster. For Ashkenazy, the Zubin Mehta/Wiener Philharmoniker set is safe. |
