But once it's done (mine is only 1/3 done, as you see), you'll become very happy with what you have. We could of course share listening experience here; as to the making of the list, I just use my limited skills in Excel. * * * Hello trollope, Well, Burmese days... something that I am sure of now is the fine weather these days, the heat reminds me of Flory's unrest in his mind. As a junior listener, I am chiefly after the privilige to enjoy the sun on a beach where summer breezes will readily carry the sorrows away. DIY: Actually i don't know anything about electronics - my hand trembled when i was soldering the first few pieces (haha!). Worse, i had been a bit skeptical about small tube amps for their 'lack' of power to play large scale music. But later after talking to some 'high-hands' here, i was convinced otherwise. Learning that Audio Note is a reputable brand and they provide detailed building menu, i decided to give it a go. --- And i am thrilled with its performance: sufficient bass (esp for my tango music), beautiful strings, and vocal solos. I was on the verge of burning $$$ to get a SS combo and i am glad that i didN'T. _________________________________________ Hello trazom, Ok, the listo! I will definitely put the year of recording next to each work - but i'll have to look at the booklet one by one. 2 other listos will come. One will be 'Operas' and the other 'Composer', which, as with the 'Conductor'-listo you've seen, contains all the chamber, concerto, and vocal. My CD shelves are also used this way. Cheers ... | [#3946] My small collection #1 Received Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 , Kleiber, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra LP (plus a few more) today. Just skim through a few passages to compare with the one by LA Phil Orch/Giulini (DGG 1982) About the opening, I prefer the “da-da-da-dum” by Kleiber. Gilulini slur (sticked??) the four notes together. Sonically, the one by Giulini is better. I don't have any preference between the two yet. |

More beautiful together with his Audio Note tube pre-amp. About SS, so far, I have encountered Passlab aleph sounds similar to 300B single end. Very beautiful mid and high. |

Bought the cello solo by JS Bach and the LALO, SAINT-SAËNS: Cello concerto set with Fournier (on DG Originals) a few days ago. Any cello work will you recommend (with memorable melody) ? Cheers. |

It would save time by copying and pasting yours for my collection list! haha About Pierre Furnier, I recently listen frequently to his Bach Cello Suites (Archiv 2CD). Initial impression is that his playing is much slow than Stark and Rostropovich. But there is detail and subtle interpretation (slow does not equal to detail sometimes). Please listen to his Suite No. 2 which is a very charming interpretation. |
