| [#4072] Oistrakh play Schubert Oistrakh was a master in big concerto, but his performance of Schubert's Violin `fantasy was rarely heard. Oistrakh's beautiful tone once again make these small piece sound better than it should, compare with his student Kremer was most interesting, you will never noticed Kremer was actully a student of Oistrakh. Oistrakh warm and thick violin tone was seductive, despite the poor recording from Russian sourse.  |

| [#4074] Oistrakh play Schubert CKM, Schubert's fantasy in C is one of his greatest works and a most difficult piece to play well. Recordings are not too many, so are the live performance. f you love this work, another versio must listen is by Heifetz and Smith, totally different style, even more convincing, some say it is the definitive version, at least technically. |

| [#4085] Karajan's Bruckner symphony No 7 Listened to Bruckner symphony No.7 played by Karajan leading Vienna philharmonic last night, the performance was a pure gold in everyway. The CD cover was the most shiny I have ever owned, the yellow label was changed to gold in color. The string of Vienna Philharmonic was also golden in color, under the baton of Karajan, every detail was reveal in a unhurried pace, every phase was shape with utmost care. The second movement of Bruckner symphony no.7 is one of my favorite melody, Karajan let the music sang while his special style of phasing added more tonal color to the long melody line. Early digital recording was good enough, the acoustic of the famous `Golden Hall' was well capture, this disc is one of the jewels on the crown of Karajan's discography, I believe should be in everybodies collection.  |
