A compilation: 綜合台北買 CD 指南 隨著 CD 之”式微”, 台北也跟它地一樣, 少了很多 CD 店。 以前比香港好得多, 現在己風光不再。 1. 網上”名店” 閔的古典音樂世界 地址:台北市中山南路21-1號(近信義路) 交通:捷運【中正紀念堂站】下車，步行約8分鐘到國家音樂廳 原來店是小小的, 也沒什仁S別, 什仇ㄗS買就走了。 2. 佳佳唱片 這是老字號, 有幾家, 只有西門(田丁)中華路一段 110 號總店相當值得去, 有不少 CD, 包括日本版。Decca 名盤 Britten Noye’s Fludde 這塈鋮鴘滿C價錢這堻怓菮y。 http://www.ccr.com.tw/product/default.asp 漢口街店在 Usher Audio (雅瑟/開封街 67 號) 附近, 小很多, 路過可看看。 3. 大眾唱片 “…大眾唱片為台灣最大的唱片連鎖通路，店點分佈於台北、桃園、新竹、台中、台南、高 雄...等各大城市，共計11家門市，每月150萬人次的訪客，經營台灣超過25%的音樂市場十八年來對有聲出版產業的深耕及對音樂藝術的堅持，已使大眾 唱片成為台灣各縣市的音樂地標…” http://www.g-music.com.tw/GMusicAboutTcr.aspx 我只去了 釧鰽 24 號店 (也在 Usher 和漢口街附近), 驚喜見到似 HMV 般的豪華古典區! CD 量和佳佳中華店差不多, 日本版卻更齊, 價錢也好。絕對值得去。 4. 台北誠品旗艦店 地址﹕台北信義區松高路11號（捷運市府站） 營業時間﹕（書店）早上10:00至凌晨2:00、（其他樓層）早上10:00至晚上10:00 5. | [#4096] HKPO/EdW/Grieg/Mahler May 10th, 2008 HKPO/EdW/Chen/Rivera Lindberg/Grieg/Mahler CCCH Marcus Lindberg’s “Chorale” opened the program. A grim piece that I did not mind. I have no interest in listening to it again, but I appreciate its inclusion in the program, something new at least. The orchestra played well. Chen Weiyin, from Taiwan, is a complete unknown, who studied at Julliard. She played the Grieg concerto in a fastidious manner. However, her tone was frequently smallish and a little more color would not have been amiss in this of all works. Her left hand was comparably weak and the lack of heft combined with occasional rhythmic oddities made her sound didactic rather than fastidious at times. The accompaniment was excellent., with a little more passion than usual for EdW. Mahler’s Fourth was a mixed bag. The playing in the first movement did not focus till midway. The second movement was mostly nicely characterized, only marred by occasional awkward solo efforts and woodwinds ensemble. The last two movements were very well played. Although Jessica Rivera took a while to warm up, she conveyed warmth, projected well, and was a pleasure to listen to. Overall, EdW conveyed a bit more passion than usual. I know this symphony, with its frequent shifts in everything, is in many ways more difficult to execute than other Mahler symphonies, and EdW and the orchestra seemingly managed things well. However, this listener, and some of his friends, cannot escape the feeling that something is amiss. Just when one gets excited by a particularly gripping passage or detail, one’s attention wanders the next moment. And so it was a good performance, but not a great one. The program book made the inexcusable error of labeling Mahler’s symphony as Piano concerto in A minor, op 16 (that is Grieg). This is even worse than the mistake in one previous flyer, which confused Schumann with Schubert. What’s going on in the editing department? |

| [#4106] HKPO/EdW/Grieg/Mahler More reflection on the M4. This was the fourth M4 I have heard in HK in recent years. This HKPO was better than its earlier one, but it still failed to deliver a feeling of coherence and well-being. In this aspect it ranked below Sinfonietta's effort under Yip Wing Sze. The best still was 2006's AYO performance under Okko Kamu. Re-cap a bit what I wrote then: "...All that did not prepare us for the quicksilver and refined M4. Overall this was a better performance than the HKPO and the Sinfonietta. Kamu had even more details in his performance than EdW, but also had much more superior dynamic control and flow. Yip Wing Sze was more flowing than EdW but not as detailed. Kamu simply put had everything. Even the orchestra was superior overall to the HKPO and Snfonietta on this occasion. It is hard to describe the refinement from bar to bar. The orchestra played brilliantly. Super strings, a bold clarinetist, sensitive oboe. Most importantly, the sections sounded coherent. The horns in particular had a good level of homogeneity and good tone, a few bluffs notwithstanding. The concertmaster also highly impressed me. Very steady and a great sense of timing, true leadership qualities. Falkland sang well in the finale. The performance was not without problems, like a ragged climax in the first movement, but it was a great one. Make sure you listen to the RTHK broadcast!,,," |

| [#4107] Jansons' Tchaikovsky cycle Jansons' Tchaikovsky symphony cycle have received crtitical acclaim for Gramophone and Penguin guide, last night I listened to the fourth symphony for the complete box of Tchaikovsky symphony cycle. The playing of the team from Oslo Philharmonic was very good, their string section have a sweet tone that can compare with the best in the world, their brass section have the power and their woodwind are clear and accurate. But I miss one element that is essential in Tchaikovsky 's music, that is passion. Jansons reading was too calculated compare with Mravinsky or Muti, I hope the other disc would give a different impression.  |
