| [#4200] Vinyl warmth Hi Erictang, despite (or because of) the fact that I am now totally converted to listening to CDs, I remain awakened to the greatest weakness (to me) of this medium: a degree of edginess on top. A sharp aural image is not necessarily a more musically agreeable one. I have some fond memories of my LP days. At its best, the sound from an LP is not only flawless but uniquely Good. Yet over the years I have seldom been seriously tempted to invest in this sound carrier again. The flood of CDs, new and re-issued, has overwhelmed me; and the hunger to listen to as much pre-recorded music as possible has made me join the majority of musical public to turn to compact discs. When my Luxman turntable failed to function about ten years ago, I bid adieu to vinyl warmth and with it part of my youth. One day, when I am old enough to be young at heart again, I may very likely reinvigorate my interest in the musical tricks from turntable, cartridge, and phono stage etc. Life will be nice enough, at that time, just to watch the movement of these things. At that time, I will remember your kind offer of assistance too, my friend. Meanwhile, I remain very gratefully your, Trollope. |

| [#4203] Chung trio Hi Trollope, Eric and all Out of my collections of Chung Trio, I like the most is Dvorak Piano Trios. This two early Compositions op21(1875) & op65(1883)of Dvorak show country-feeling of Bohemia. And the performaces are very musical esp on the slow movement, The violinist plays instinctivly slavonic with rhythmic piano and cello. They shows clear pictures of lyricism (full of inspiration of folk music of Bohemia) (Kyung wha Chung also plays instinctivly rhythmic on Symphonie Espagnole_Lalo).... The partnership of this recordings,no doubt,(brother & sisters) is outstanding. The recording was a little bit dry (?) (my poor gears) The CD sounds fairly sharp and bright but the resolution is very good. Please share your comment!! |

| [#4206] Chung trio Hi Trazom, I don't have the Dvorak Piano Trios from the Chung Trio, but I have this (which, incidentally, has its own Korean element too): Dvorák: Piano Trios Nos. 3, op. 65 & 4, op. 90 "Dumky" Emanuel Ax (piano), Young Uck Kim (violin), Yo-Yo Ma (cello) [1987, New York] CBS (Masterworks) MK 44527: DDD 1988 I bought it 14 years ago, and sorry I have not re-visited it for oh at least five or six years. So, let me get back to you later. |

| [#4207] Little Tasmin Continue with the Stephen Bishop record, Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4, his playing is fast and technically brilliant (eg the 3rd movement). One will notice Stephen Boshop's exult when compare to other recording like Ashkenazy/Mehta. |

In fact, I know nothing about it prior to buying but just based on budget price and DDD recording The cover of mine is different, Tasmin picture is there, probably issued under another series. In the first movement, do you find the brass is a lot louder/wider that the others like Chung's one. Sorry I don't have much recording on Trio and I'm going to look for some, probably will include Brahms: Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano in E flat major, op. 40, Trollope mentioned |
