| [#4213] Karajan's Wagner Karajan was always renowned for his conducting of Wagner's music, he joint hand with Jessye Norman and Vienna Philharmonic to perform a few orchestra pieces at 1987 Salzburg Festival. And this disc was a live recording on that occasion. The Prelude of Tannhäuser was performed most beautifully, but that only act as a warm up. Siegfried Idyll received one of the most smooth and calm account on record, the beautiful string and woodwind section of Vienna Philharmonic bring extra charm to this short music piece. Isoldes Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde was one of the greatest moment in romantic music, and Karajan's performance was like a swan song for his own perfomance career. Wonderful disc in everyway. This disc goes out of print for many years, fortunate it was available again recently, the one I brought recently was a unopened `West Germany' version, must be some NOS ( new old stock) from warehouse, music lover should not miss this chance.  |

My first encounter with Carmina Burana is back to 1987/88 when I got my Kyocera CD player at the Mong Kok Hi-Fi Center. The sales person demonstrated the Carmina Burana, the Kyocera CD player with B&W 801 at the high-end audio room. As a Sansui hi-fi combo user, I was totally震驚shocked by the stunning “O Fortuna”! Finally I bought the CD player and the CD at the same time over there. Carmina Burana is the major drive force to push me up in getting the better performance from audio equipments in last 20 years! Now, I always pick the best time that I can totally focus to enjoying the 60’30” stunning music. In addition, I always take the Carmina Burana Examination (CBE) every time after the fine tuning or enhancement to my audio system. Let’s GO!  |

If you want to expand you horizon, you can always seek the following title. These piece are all chorus and orchestral piece, I am sure these musical piece can give you many hours of pleasure: 1. Verdi requiem 2. Mahler symphony no.8 3. Beethoven symphony No.9 Chan Kai Ming |

This native Surpaphon LP set sounds exceptionally crisp and clean. Usually, only those Denon press sounds good.
