As suggested by eric0568, I continue here for the discussion from: http://www.review33.com/avforum/forum_message.php?topic=67030315230746&page=5 I forgot that apart from Debussy, there's another great French composer - Hector Berlioz. I remember many years ago, Seiji Ozawa came to HK with his Boston Symphony Orchestra. They played Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet. It's quite impressive. The choir members were very skilful. There're about 60 of them. They are divided into groups of 2 to 4. For example, in a group of 3: one soprano, one alto/tenor, and one bass. All these small groups scattered all around in the seats facing the conductor. (So the all back seats were non-bookable.) Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique is enjoyable too. Another good French composer is Cesar Frank. His violin sonata is also enjoyable. |
