Beethoven: Cello Sonatas Mine is PHCP-24015/6. 3. Great Piano Concertos Your photo is not clear enough, but I think this is from Andromeda (ANDRCD 5026), containing: a. Beethoven #3, USSR State SO / Abendroth, r. Moscow, October 1954 b. Tchaikovsky #1, Czech PO / Ancerl, r. Prague, May 1954 c. Schumann, Moscow Radio Orch / Gauk, r. Moscow, 1954 d. Brahms #2, Czech PO / Kondrashin, r. Prague, May 1950 I have (a) in Parnassus, and the rest in Urania. 4. Prokofiev: Piano Concertos 1, 4, & 5 I have several Postnikova CDs, but no Prokofiev in any of them. 5. a. Shostakovich: Violin & Piano Sonata (Kagan & Richter) b. Shostakovich: Viola & Piano Sonata (Bashmet & Richter) Was (a) recorded in Moscow in 1985? If yes, I have this in a Yedang (YCC-0106), which contains (b) too. 6. Grieg & Schumann Concertos Mine is also a Toshiba-EMI (7058). ----- The issues from Japanese Philips and JVC Victor are particularly attractive. ----- It's nice to talk to you again. |

| [#4927] May the wind blow under your wings Eric, music scores are in abundant supply in 文星書店 in Mongkok. 1 RMB to HK$ 1. I bought the Mozart's complete piano sonatas at $38 a few months ago. It's a hard-cover licensed Chineese edition of the original German edition (Breitkopf & Hartel). And more amazingly, the complete Beethoven piano sonatas at HK$68. (hard-cover, 560pp) From 湖南文藝出版社. I guess it's about time you got some sleep. |

| [#4929] Caruso and his equals (if any) Hi erictang, Good trip! I managed to have a couple of Chopin CDs and a Bjoerling highlights in Shanghai early this year. When I went to the music bookshop looking for cheap scores, almost all the scores were Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Tchaikovsky. No Brahms piano pieces. It happens that students in China like to practise Chopin etc but not Brahms... what a pity. Trollope, forgot to thank for your recommendation on the tenor DVD. |

| [#4936] From Russian Trazom, if you like the Kagan + Richter in your Shostakovich's Violin Sonata, look for some more CDs of this partnership in LIve Classics. For the Shostakovich's Violin Sonata alone, there are three different K+R recordings, all recorded in 1985. I only have two. |
