| [#5080] Yehudi Menuhin Paganini Concertos ＞ Yesterday listened to Menuhin Paganini ＞ Concertos No.1 & 2, seems lack of engery. ＞ I prefer the one performed by Accardo You should listen to his recording in 1934. This is an excellent performance (one of the best!). It was Menuhin who re-introduced the Paganini No. 1 in its three movement entirety, supplanting a tradition that incorporated only the first movement and cadenza. |

| [#5082] A new old Mozart set Hi Tanuski, Deadly toxic, aren't they? This 1956 Jubilee Mozart set from DG. My initially impression is that the first two double-CD sets should interest me. The first one brings together Ferenc Fricsay's complete repertoire of Mozart's orchestral works. The second double-CD gives us the piano concertos, with Annie Fischer as one of the soloists. We are not given to know who plays what with whom yet. But a Fischer Mozart concerto from a label other than EMI is something to look forward to. |

But as I am in no hurry to to get it, let me wait and see whether it will soon be in the market. I have been listening to this CD borrowed from City Hall Library recently many times: http://www.imgartists.com/?page=audioVisual/bbcLegends/detail.html&id=145 On the 24 Preludes, op.28, A/B comparison with the Nimbus (again via Runwang) reveals that this BBC 1972 recording has the more natural sound to offer. The No.3 sonata is in mono, but as far as mono goes, not too bad. The booklet essay is quite brilliantly penned. |
