| [#507] Any classical fans here? One of my friend's gear is very good in producing piano sound: Denon DCD S-10, AN M6 preamp, Jeff Rowland Model 10, Celestion 700SE. The Celestion speakers don't match with his other equipments, yet the piano sound produced is very good. It seems that SS amp is good in piano music reproduction, whereas tube is good for violin. To share with you guys, 近排, 我都買o左o吾少CD, SACD 同 DVD: CD: 1. Richard Strauss Orchestral Work - Rudolf Kempe (EMI) => $235 for 9CDs, 好抵. 2. Strauss Four Last Songs.12 Orchestral Songs - Schwarzkopf/George Szell (EMI) => still digesting 3. Violin Concertos - Berg, Hindemith, Stravinsky - Kogan/Oistrakh (Yedang) 4. Piano music and Concertos - Stravinsky, Bartok, Hindemith - Richter (Yedang) 5. Gershwin Piano Concerto, Stravinsky Ebony Concerto, Petrushka... - Lazar Berman (Yedang) => 正如 HiFi Review 所講, Petrushka 真係超技演奏. DVD: 1. The Golden Age of The Piano 2. David Oistrakh - Artist of the People? 3. Maria Callas - Life and Art Besides, I finished watching the following DVDs recently: 1. The Art of Conducting (Great Conductors of the Past) 2. The Art of Conducting (Legendary Conductors of a Golden Era) 3. The Art of Piano 4. The Art of Violin 5. The Art of Singing 6. Richter - The Enigma (1 of the 2 sides) "The Art of..." series are highly recommended for classical fans. |

| [#511] Any classical fans here? Yes. EMI budget box-set series are really a bargain. I bought 3 sets already: Strauss/Kempe, Bruckner/Jochum, and Beethoven/Klemperer & Barenboim. It's less than $30 per CD => 太抵o拉!!! |
