There are other good ones, just some suggetsions.  |

| [#5280] Classical Music in New Year Concerts There was a new year concerts broadcasted in BS2 in 1-Jan night. Is there any classical fans watch the program? Some of the music shall be composed by Johann Strauss, just by guess as the sub-title is in Japanese. I am interested to look for some CD on these music, any good suggestion? | [#5282] Faure: Elegie Hit erictang, ＞ Any suggestion on other CD/LP having Faure: Elegie? I like the Starker and Jacqueline Du Pre versions. The interpretation of Starker is full of sorrow. On the other hand, du Pre played this piece with great passion. The piano accompaniment of Gerald Moore is excellent and can be appreciated along with the cello solo.  |

| [#5286] Strauss Hi gs, Let me refine my recommendations. The best buy must be the Boskovsky (with the Johann Strauss Orchestra of Vienna) on EMI "Encore", costing just $39. If you want him with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, go for the Double Decca (443 473-2). It would also be nice to have one of those New Year concerts on DVD. I have the VPO with Kleiber conducting (1989), but the latest edition of the Penguin Guide lists the VPO with Maazel conducting (2005) as one of the "Fifteen Outstanding DVDs".  |
