| [#5618] Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 4 That Karajan was recorded/published in '77 as shown on the red ribbon sticker at the left upper corner of the cover. I also got the Symphony #6 of that Karajan's round for Tchaikovsky. The #6 is also good in terms of recording and performance if you are not especially repulsive to Karajan's usual cosmetic treatment. |

| [#5619] Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 4 Thanks lym hing. I'm not repulsive to Karajan. The first record I bought 20+ years ago was Karajan Beethoven #6 (reissue of 1963 recording). Have not re-visited his 'usual cosmetic treatment' for a long time. |

Though #5 is giving a heavy sense of struggle and desperation, it is not yet to an absolute degree of total submission without a final fight (though the music sets a mood thatthe fight is simply an act of Don Quixote).  |

| [#5623] Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 4 another options of Tschai 4 are Claudio Abbado{which got a rosette from the Penguin guide) and Pierre Monteux from RCA. For live I have not heard a better one by St. Petersburg under Tamikranov,truely stunning,esp. the brass sound. |
