My first choice DVD will be the Glybourne production of 2002 with LPO under Philippe Jordan. Superb performance by Anne Sophie von Otter and Marcus Haddock although Laurent Naouri is not the best Escamillo. Samuel Ramey gave a much better portrait of the torero in the Metropolitan production under James Levine in 1987. The most colourful Carmen staging on DVD is the Arena di Verona production of 2003 with Marina Domashenko as Carmen but the vocal performances are not particularly impressive.

In my opinion, the Price/Karajan version of 1963, the Callas/Pretre version of 1964, and the Horne/Bernstein version of 1973 are still the three best audio recordings of Carmen.

Did you get home safe? Are you still under the influence of jet lag?

Thanks for the 2 CDs that you've brought me. I enjoy them both while my wife is particular fond of the Beethoven Piano Sonatas Nos. 1 & 7 performed by Richter.

Will burn the pictures I took from Empire State Bldg to a disc and mail it out once I am done with the free-lance project that I am pushing.

Most delighted to hear that Mrs T enjoys the Richter CD.

Yes, it would nice to have those photos. But no hurry really.
