( classical music) Listened to Tchaikovsky piano concerto No.2 last night, this piano concerto was not as famous as his first piano concerto, but still very interesting, the slow movement have a long dialogue between piano, violin and cello make this movment almost sound like a triple concerto. Tchaikovsky was a master in writing melody and you will never bored. Recording was very good, played with authority by Donohoe.  |

| [#625] What are you listening to? ( classical music) In order not to disturb my baby in his sleep, I listened to chamber works more. Compared with orchestral work, chamber are ususally more personal, reflective. And last night, I listened to Schubert's violin sonata, Schubert was a master in chamber music, his Sting Quintet in C was my all time favorite, and his piano quintet `Trout' was delightful. Schubert's violin sonata were equally lovely, lyrical and sweet, and most importantly sedative ( my baby love it ). Gidon Kremer's playing was as good as any, but I hope that I could have Arthur Grumiaux's version in my collection in this new year.  |

( classical music) Listened to this classic version of Mahler's symphony No 1 by Kubelik last night, the recording was probably one of the worst DG have ever produced, however the conuducting was very lyrical, rthythum was springy and natural, couple with three songs that shared similiar theme with symphony No.1, I cannot complain but sit back and enjoy.  |

I cannot think of a better intepretation, the members of Borodin were simply stunning, the playing was affectionate, and their tone were gorgeous. The slow movement `Noctuno' was one of the most romantic tune in history of music.  |

| [#641] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Even though it was recorded 50 years ago, I still consider Grumiaux/Haskil's Beethoven violin sonata as my first choice. Their collaboration was intimate, the piano part was played by Clara Haskil in a most sensitive manner while Authur Grumiaux's violin part was elegant and confident. I owned the old version on Philips but unfortunately it was deleted from the catalogue, it was reissued on brilliant classics recently.  |
