Thanks Mr and Mrs Richard for the warm welcome to his new workshop. Very comfy and modern deco, I do like the wood base color tone very much. The geometry of the room show a lot of promise (indeed perfect for hifi playing).

I did mention to Richard that he need a bigger speaker to do his nice room justice. Not surprisingly, he has a 12" Tannoy in original cabi coming. Looking forward to an audition of that.

We also would like to thank Pang for bringing in his 25A (admirable condition). This is my 2nd encounter of the 25A, lot of promise. Very excited to learn about Pang's Tannoy grand plan too :). I am sure he would be a very happy man again in the near future. Having 12.1 and 25A matting with a pair of Tannoy could be a man in the heaven. Not to mention, joy would only continue with his TT plan being acomplished too! Pang please keep us post.

During the audition, we also trial multiple Pre amps. To my personal liking, I like the Scott most bacause of its ability to communicate music. The Eico enrich the low of the Roger 3/5A a lot, Richard's screte weapon give a lot of resolution across the whole spectrum.

All on all a very enjoyable gathering. Thanks you all.

I did not have enough experience to make this judgement. I have two pairs of Chartwell and several Rogers including two paisr of Rogers Black Tag. To my experience, the pair has the more time sitting on my speaker stand, they sound better.

Personally I prefer more to my Spendor but Chartwell is also good to my friends' ears. Chartwell is good or Rogers would not swallow Chartwell, the whole production line.

I do agree that the price of a pair of Chartwell is a bit more expensive than other brandnames, say eBay.

Let us to have a LS3/5A party in July : )

In my view, Rogers 15 ohm versions have been oversimplified as a single version in comparison with Chartwell (which must be the earliest 15 ohm!) or GOODMENS (which must be the later to latest 15 ohm!). The fair comparison would be to compare earliest black badge Rogers (circa 1977) with the Chartwells.

I do agree with KT66Chgeung that versions of the KEF B110 do matter in the formation of the sonic characterics of the LS3/5As, the early KEF B110 drivers, the better! I understand that Gingers may disagree with me but, I yet to hear the personal evidence why he disagreed. :)

KEF made SP1003 before (KEF speakers used SP1003) the design of LS3/5A.

If the older SP1003 is better, I guess we should buy the oldest KEF speakers and took out the SP1003 and used in a LS3/5A. Then even the No. 1 & 2 Rogers LS3/5A will lose.

Honest to say, I have no evidence to prove that why the SP1003 made before the design of LS3/5A was better : )

The early SP1003, the better. WHO can show with evidence even I would like to know how to identify the earliest SP1003, by S/Nos? : )

If the the earliest LS3/5A sounds better, will there be other factors, say resistors, cabinets, run in... etc.

The earlier SP1003 were not used in LS3/5A, but other speakers : )
Ok, one can say the earlier resistors, the better.
The older cabinets, the better.
The oldest screw speaker terminals, the better....................etc

In fact it is well protected by kevinming for 10 years. I was told that this pair were kept in the cabinet before.

For a almost 50 years old tube amplifier, it is very clean : )
