| [#6923] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Hi John I just got home with the pair of TL12.1. Their condition is quite good, compared to my last pair sold to Alvin a few years ago. I haven't fired them up yet, but I hope that the output transformers are alright. I bought this pair because the seller is only 1.5 hour drive from where I live. After nearly been cheated 900 pounds by another ebay seller 2 months ago, I will only buy expensive items if I can collect them. One amp is totally original. There is no sign of overheating. It is in very good original condition. The second amp has been refurbished with good workmanship. It is very much like the other one except there is a volume control and a switch for selecting normal line input to the EF36/37 or to a special input transformer. I don't know the input and output impedance of the special transformer, but it doesn't really matter since I will never use it. The only unfortunate things are that three KT66 are made by Chinese, only the forth one is made by Marconi. He only gave me one two pin Bulgin type plugs for the speaker output, so I will have to look for another one! I wish I never sold a 2 pin Bulgin plug in the past. I will restore both amps in the next few weeks. i will using polyproplene caps since paper in oil like Jensens are really expensive in England. Resistors will be carbon film which I will buy from RS or Farnell. I am not as meticulous as John Keung or Richard Yim (they are the real masters!), so I will only clean up the amp and use them with my LS35a or some modern speakers. I have a pair of very nice Acoustic Energy Aesprit 300 which are made in Malaysia. I only paid 80 pounds for a brand new B grade stock directly from Acoustic Energy! They were 400 pounds new a few years ago. Good quality Vifa drivers are used and the midrange is superb. The sensitivity is also quite high at 87dB/W. I can't believe that the rusty single TL12.1 was sold for 565 pounds! It really looks in bad shape. Even though I always said a 60 year old amp should look 60 year old, I just cannot put my hand in my pocket to pay that sum for it. John Keung wants to see some photos, so here they are.
