| [#7464] Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.5 This morning, revisit Brandenburg Concerto No.5 on the 3 records I've mentioned on 5Dec midnight. The one under Philips (in picture of 07-12-05 00:13) comes to top of my list as it presents clarity in melodic lines. To me, the piece is like a trio with Flute, violin, harpsichord singing to each other. With the score from 文星書店 (a bookshop introduced by Trollope hing years ago) at $12 only, I can see the piece is built by a few tunes which are repeat and repeat. The beauty is, these repeated melodies lasted for years and will never get you bored. | [#7467] Bach Brandenburg Concerto No.5 Hi Erictang, to echo your message, I am playing bits of the version by Baumgartner conducting the Festival Strings Lucerne (DG, Resonance 427 192-2). Some delicate harpsihord touches there as well. Alas, may not have the time to finish listening to the whole piece. Ised to listen to a LOT of music pn the PC at work. It's surprising how much you can get through and learn. I probably listened to this stupendous performance of Bach's St John's Passion 20 times, more than any item in my house...no other version comes even remotely close...  |

| [#7474] Beethoven Missa Solemnis Then I gave the HM set to a lady friend. This excellent version of Beethoven's somewhat difficult-to-love masterwork replaced it on the PC. Again, I could say I probably learned this work on the PC. And I love it now! This dynamic version is unfortunately out-of-print. the playing of Hermann Krebbers is simply stunning.  |

I like guitar+violin the most though the guitar sounded more loudly than the violin. Might it be caused by the microphone being too far away from the violin ?? Moreover, I was sitting on the right side and the violinist was also playing on the right. The string quartet plus guitar is marvellous. Gonna look for some duo by Astor Piazzolla and Mauro Giuliani Audience: about 70% full Good nite |
