[#749] Any classical fans here? Hi Dvorak, ic. From my point of view, the only good sounding Horowitz's concerto recording is his Mozart Concerto 23 but that is a controversial interpretation. Yes. Horowitz's interpretation of Mozart is controversial. Not only the Concerto #23 with Giulini, the Mozart Piano Sonata he recorded with DG is also not standard.

Not sure if you guys have listen to Glenn Gould playing Mozart. I heard his CD playing K331, 3rd movement, Rondo Alla Turca, many years ago in a CD shop. It's just weird.....

聽Mozart, 都係聽o的正常o的好. 太出位, 太浪漫或太標旗立異都o吾係最好聽.....

As for best sounding Horowitz CD, I think it's DG's "Horowitz At Home". For the most powerful playing, I remember Horowitz's playing of Chopin Polonaise No.6 in A flat, Op.53 (in "The Last Romantics") - a performance that Horowitz fans shouldn't miss!

Thanks for your introduction. I got both of them.
Apart from his DG recording, i like to recommand his 'Last Recording' by Sony. titled Record of the Year in 1990 of Grammy. Never mind his performance, so what. That is Horowitz's last recording, the last recording of the last romantic!

There are not many Horowitz Plays Bach recording.
For me, it is a pity because i am Bach lover and Horowitz fan as well.
I compromise this by listening to his Scarlatti.

Here I highly recommand u guy Horowitz's Scarlatti and Clementi, most of them recorded in 1960-1975.

Remark:
Scarlatti (1685-1757) who was born in the same year as Bach was a great keyboard music composer and player.
