Colin, would like to remind that TL12.1 will be optimized with VT-75 ============================== I introduced Colin to buy LF59B because I was aware that 12.1 had a little bit over power in his system when up to the extrem exciting music. I personally have Dynatron LF59 for 2 years and Leak TL12.1 (with smoke glass VT75) for 4 years. However, LF59 can definitely beat TL12.1 in terms of human voice and attraction. Difficult to say in wordings how attractive it is.... anyway, it can compare to western electric. I had AB comparsion with WE124 2 times! Enjoy it, Colin! |

Colin ===================== Colin, LF59 is the first version which can be dated back to end of 40's in which they were installed in the radiogram only. By then, there is no FM radio in their radiogram. This is older than Leak! |

| [#7977] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Not necessarily. On Quad II, I prefer smoke glass VT75 to Big Bottle EL37. So it can depend on which amp one use. We have only tried EL12 on TL25A but not the TL12.1. It might outperform both! |

However, I would say, thought they are very good, I still prefer Genalex KT88s (big Gold Lions) on these monos. Of course, money wise, what a hell of difference between them! Yes, I concur that there are other considerations when applying tubes. |

EL12N needs plate voltage of 425V and cathode resistor of 350 ohms according to spec. I tried this setting in my Klangfilm amps and it outperforms all the EL34 and KT88 sound-quality-wise especially in mid-high freq smoothness. Actually it sounds even sweeter than F2a11 |

Of course 12.1 has a better overall performance. However, as I said human voice of LF59 is very attractive! On colin's system, LF59B has a better overall performance including details and sound stage on his Tannoy spk. This is a good match! However,, 12.1 can win all the time on the exciting music e.g. classical music. So...it depends on what kind of music doo you prefer. I can say LF59 is more enjoyable "Tan Sai Kai" as WE does! |
