Hi rickynew hing, Totally agree with you. 349A is a slow warm tube just like an old man, but once it warm up the energy and endurance level is tougher than a young man. My 44+131 combo become stable after 1.5-2 hrs play, but sound the best after 4 hrs.

Hi jp80mc hing, It is always feel good when you meet someone previously bought from you. Your ID and the tubes looks familiar to me. There are not too many branded amps (even Western Electric) use VT-52 as power tube and you have 6 of this, so are you DIY fans and what system do you use?

Yes!It feels good we from east coast can meet the west coast great seller here,6 of the WE VT52 was own by one of my friend,As far as I remember my first transaction with you was a pair of JBL L100,BIN at $599,that was few years ago.

Now I become part of the DIY fans user,my JBL journal is upgrade from L100 to 375 big horn system,see picture below.

How about your system?Just curious what is good match with WE gears^_^

My 44A has been singing for a few days in my place, the following set up is used to test Mr Wu's preamp which I name it 'WE Model WU' because it is hardly a clone WE44A cos the tube compliments are different, and the power supply is a total re-built based on Mr Wu's experience and expertise on WE amps.

CD player-Zanden with separate power supplies for the Transport and CDP
Power amp-Kondo Gakuoh(I change the stock tubes to WE 300B and WE274B)
Speaker system-David Horning Eufrodite
Cables- Argento Extreme Edition interconnect and spk cables, Flow/Flow Master power cords and Kondo power cords
I have 2 other preamps in the house as reference, the Kondo M77(just back from service, some modifications have been made including changing all the older Kondo-made resistors into a newer type resistors, minor changes in the line circuit, 2x 0.05uf caps are added to complete the mod). The other preamp is the Shindo Petrus. They have different sound character, both are great preamps.Recently,I like to use the Shindo+Kondo Gakuoh combination, with this combo,I can listen to music for hours and hours without fatique, the Kondo M77 is just too excited. So when Mr Wu's WE preamp is inserted into the loop, the sound is a little more colorful( no surprise with the WE ball tubes), a little soft in the entire sound spectrum with a certin degree of laidback in the critical mid,making human voices less prominent than I used to hear in my system. As a result, it has more bass energy than I expected.
Voicing a DIY product is a painful process, there are so many factors, dependencies that can change the sound from mild to sigifcient, let alone the circuit itself, the parts used in it has sigificient impact to the overall sound of the gear, say a 20uf capacitor, a Mallory old FP type cap can yield completely different sound from a Blackgate, not to mention changing the cap to a different value.Up to now,it has been more than 6 weeks that I and a few friends tried to voice the preamp, still it has lots of room to improve. I'll go to Mr Wu's workshop tomorrow and we'll go back to the circuit/drawing board and see what we have missed in the process.
