[#782] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Kwok123, `I found out Beethoven Symphony No. 5 a bit boring', listen to it a few time, think of the time when `fate knocks at yuor door' `Mozart Synphony no. 40 quite fit my taste.' if you love Mozart, I would strongly advice you to prepare a new CD shelf, as Mozart's output was enormous and most of his output were very enjoyable.

[#783] What are you listening to?

[#785] What are you listening to? ( classical mus By the way, do the Symphonies have any stories behind it? Did Mozart want to express his feelings? for example, as I know 1812 expressed the wars in Russia (if I am right!).

[#787] What are you listening to? ( classical mus kwok123 Hope the following from encyclopepia help : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._40_(Mozart) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_No._41_(Mozart) But most of the music Mozart composed were absolute music, which means it have no story at all but sound, and it is intended to be appreciated without any particular reference to the outside world. The first program music ( music intended to evoke extra-musical ideas, images in the mind of the listener by musically representing a scene, image or mood ) ever was Beethoven's symphony No.6 `Pastoral' in which you can hear birds songs and rain storm . Follow are some program music ( music with a story ) you would be interested: Hector Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique Modest Mussorgsky' ` Pictures at an Exhibition' Camille Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals Richard Strauss Tod und Verklärung Richard Strauss Ein Heldenleben Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade ![]()

[#797] What are you listening to? ( classical mus "One more question, why no one made new classical music or symphonies nowadays? certainly, there must be someone in the world wanting to be another Mozart?" Good question! I don't know. But if you look at music and composers of the past: "Barogue" of Bach and Handel, "Classic" of Haydn and Mozart, "Romantic" of Chopin and Mahler... etc. They all reflect the cultural and spirtual aspirations of their time. What is the cultural and spiritual aspiration of our time? I really don't know. I really like to know what other big hings think.

[#801] What are you listening to? ( classical mus "One more question, why no one made new classical music or symphonies nowadays? certainly, there must be someone in the world wanting to be another Mozart?" Interesting question, but music are with us all the time, without the music of John Williams, I am sure that `Star war' will be very boring. Opera in the past become `musical drama' today, you must have heard of `Phantom of the opera' or `Cats' when you walk around. I am sure that they will become classical music in the future. But some composer think that they should compose something new that sound total different from composer in the past, Maxwell-Davis was one of them and you can always found his music on Naxos, he is commision by Naxos to compose ten `Naxos string Quartet' and some of them are still in progress. Time will tell whether he is a great composer or not.
