Due to TP1A is very very sensitive, so I need a very small power, detail and high quality SETA amp." actually you don't necessary need a quiet preamp. my speaker is not less efficient than yours TP1A running at 102db. you just need to work out the overall gain. in fact if you get an insensitive power amp, you have more choice with preamps. i'm not sure my 45 SET is high quality but if you want to listen to it, i can arrange it. just want to lend a hand to a fellow lowther fan. regards king |

Please let me how can I get your 45 to meet my Lowther?" i hope you are living somewhere readily reachable not like me. i can bring my 45 to your home and probably bring a pair of 2a3 to try as well since my amp can take both though not optimum for 2a3 but you should get the general idea of what a 2a3 will sound like. unfortunately i can take too many things with me otherwise i can bring some equipment to help you to set up the TP1A and try to tame some of its shouting of the lowther. any brothers want to join? how about next saturday afternoon? regards king |

| [#8059] Leak Club for Leak lovers After adding the pot and adjust it a bit, its much easier to obtain a good volume setting on my HF85. I think adding the pot does not play any trick on the gain of the ST20 but just allow suppression to the signal output from the HF85. |

In this case the addition of the 500K pot shifts the HF85 volume pot to a easier control section." i didn't read you correctly. did you say you add an additioanl pot to the existing volume? so kind of cascading the pots, right? that explains why you get more control but this is not a very good way of doing it sonically speaking. one of these pots is plenty adding another will give you too much softness to the signal. but if you like it, why not. regards king |
