| [#8507] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Did you win another pair of 12.1 again? Congratulations! ------------------------------------------- No. I did not buy the pair and I did not place any bid on it. I saw the seller's eBay record. He bought & sold the goods with small amount. Honest to say, I would have a bit reserve to buy from him :-( As long as aneBay, my heart becomes smaller. The seller of the single 12.1 was a frequent 12.1 seller. I recalled Richard bought his 12.1 from this seller before : ) John |

Also don't are thers any "SIFU" over here in Singapore to check and service for me :( |

| [#8513] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Hi, Gingers. Absolutely no time to touch them for the last 3 weeks. And no music too during that period. I hope things will settle down by end of this month. Then I can resume my restoration work. I got a pair of Rogers LS5/9 and a Scott 299B during this period though. :-) |

| [#8515] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Thanks for the nice couple Jeremy & Karen and 老友 who brought along the Nagra PL-P & Marantz 7 respectively to my place : ) I think I do not need to introduce the Marantz 7. Nagra PL-P is a expensive pre amplifier to me. Its MSRP: $ 9500.00-US. Battery operated tube pre-amplifier with phono stage!! The PL-P is a Pure Class A vacuum tube pre-amplifier including a phono stage, the whole unit runs on a rechargeable battery system. This prevents the PL-P from any mains power interference. | [#8516] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Uncompromised power supply ------------------------------------------ In any pre-amplifier, the power supply is a sensitive and significant component. This is especially true when dealing with phono levels. That’s why the PL-P power supply uses a set of rechargeable "D" cell batteries, operating through an external current charging AC supply. This design eliminates all disruptive effects of AC powering from wall outlets and may solve persistent hum problems. The internal power supply regulation circuitry of the PL-P uses proprietary, dual DC-to-DC converters to eliminate power supply ripples and assures a clean power source for all active electronic stages and components. ![]() |

| [#8517] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Unique design phono stage The phono stage is built around the best tubes out of our selection and especially designed Nagra transformers for impressive noise figures, dynamic and high-resolution performance with both moving magnet and moving-coil cartridges. Variable capacitive (from 47 pF to 837 pF) and resistive (30 Ω to 330 Ω) loading is provided to allow ideal matching with most available cartridges. Switches for selecting the appropriate loading options are internally mounted on the circuit board to protect sensitive low-level signals from undesirable interferences. ![]() |

| [#8518] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user A class tube --------------------------------- Two triode sections, biased for pure class-A operation, are implemented in each channel for additional amplification. The PL-P has two stages, the first one for level input management and the second for output level management and record loop. As in all vacuum tube circuits within the PL-P, precise DC filament voltage regulation from the power supply ensures low-noise, high-resolution performance and a long lifetime. The output stage vacuum tubes, operating in pure class-A, are directly coupled to the output connectors; they can accommodate loads as low as 600 Ω. To facilitate tape transcriptions and external signal processing, a full tape loop facility is also provided. ![]() |

| [#8522] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Looks like it is transformer coupled for the output stage for a 600 ohm output. The MC and output transformers surely look lovely. And it seems to be all Philips caps. And a very lovely metal work on the chassis. Excellent design...I hope to listen to its sound one day....:-O |

| [#8523] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user A great piece of equipment. Like a swiss watch. There is no great swiss batteries. They are all made by OEMs, I believe this battery is made by GP of Hong Kong. Even Varta is now made by GP. The best batteries could be either Sanyo of Japan or Saft of France. Is it possible to try higher mAH batteries. Battery power is good for noise for it doesn't give you a constant voltage, nor would the DC-DC converter. Higher capacity is the only way. |
