[#8885] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user These are not a matching pair. The one with RS components (left one) is very much deficient of treble, compared with the right one. They are now driving the Klipsch which is very efficient so they sound very powerful but of course not as sweet as the Stereo 20. The bass is very good, much better than Quad II. I would say Leak 25+ is too powerful to Klipsch...
Leak 25+ is 25W x 2 whilst Quad II is 11W x 2 so the Klipsch sound rough is resonable.

From what you described, it sounds like there is a dry joint from the multi-core wire of the tapping selection on the side covers to the enamelled wires. If you open the side cover again, lever the paper insulation on both sides of the bobbin sideways, check the solder joints or better still, resolder every joint.

The third one from UK again, but with a lot distortion and intermittent sound.
I opened up the OPT, found nothing, closed it again. Miraculously everything works. Normal sound. Same output as the Aussie one.

My second 12.1 pre amplifier arrived :-)

Leak "RC/PA" (Dec 1948)

With the release of the "TL/12" power amplifier in December 1948, Leak also released an associated pre-amplifier called the "RC/PA" (an abbreviation of "Remote Control Pre-Amplifier"). The list price was 6 Pounds-15 Shillings (the TL/12 alone was 25 Pounds-15 Shillings). The following details were features in sales information:

An original distortionless feedback tone-control circuit which will become a standard.
Switching for Pick-Up, Microphone and Radio with automatic alteration of tone control characteristics (presumably this is a reference to the equalisation required for discs).
High sensitivities - will operated from any moving coil, moving iron or crystal pick-up; from any moving coil microphone ; from any radio unit.
Controls: Input selector; Bass gain and loss; Treble gain and loss; Volume.
The unit will mount on motor-board through a cut out of 10-1/8" x 3-1/8 ", or it can be bolted to the power amplifier, when, with a top cover the whole assembly becomes portable.
