To be honest, if I didn't sell many of my amps and speakers, I would have a lot more than John (but never as many pieces as you or Tim!) ------------------------------------------- Hon, Your description reflects the different collection behaviours between HK and UK vintage fans. The behaviour reflects, in part, the VERY different social constructions (people's habits, values, and society institutions, etc.). UK people are generally much more "conservative" (in positive sense) than HK people. Conservativism does NOT mean a "backward" thinking, but the mood and deep knowledge about the old things they love or they don't love. On the other hand, UK people have much larger storage space at home for storage of old stuff if they love to collect. The "unique" social construction of HK have shaped the current situations: a) The vintage audio "informal" market (e.g. the buy/sell in R33 2nd hand market) is fairly inmature. b) The vintage audio "formal" market (e.g. shops in Tak Fat Building, Central District, etc.) is fairly stagnant. We can start to discuss the above purely in an objective and non-personal manner. The subject worths a Master Degree dissertation, or even a Doctoral Degree thesis. Richard |

| [#8971] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user I sold the Audio Research LS7 instantly to a brother here after I bought the EICO ST84. Honest to say, all my vintage pre amplifiers can kick the LS7 away easily. The KRELL I spent only 3-4 hours to kick it away. It was easily sold at R33. John  |
