First of all, we have to know the function of the piece of KT61 in LEAK TL/25A - voltage regulation for the screen supply of KT66 power tubes. As the tube is NOT directly related to the reproduction of sound, it doesn't matter which tube (metalbase or not) AS FAR AS the tube can regulate screen supply voltage for the designed magnitude. I can't remember what screen voltage that a KT66 was designed for in 25A circuit. I would counter check previous written records and let you know if found any. |

The importance is NOT which tube sounds the best in amps such as LEAK TL/10, but which tube has the correct internal impedance and characteristics as KT61. Check the website if you can find the data? :) |
