The case of respraying the chassis of a vintage amp is different from making a repica of a genuine antique. In the latter case, the replica is entirly new and it would amount to "fraud" if it is sold as genuine. Repairing and respraying the chassis according to the original colour, taste, and design, is in fact showing respect to the original, to bring back the glory that the vintage amp had. It is an act similar to preserving/polishing a genuine antique! Just my two cents. :)  |

My view on restoring vintage gear is to keep them as original as possible It is just like restoring antique cars. Sometimes you see the article is rusty and parts are falling out. It is the respect from heart to bring back their glory days! Keep all spec. as original as possible is my belief. On the contrary, I think it will increase the value rather than decreasing it. This is proven in the case of antique cars and houses. I really enjoy them looking so great! Thanks to Colin and David! |
