| [#9970] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user I listened to John Lo's Tannoy Chatsworth with 12" silver yesterday. They are really fine speakers in John's living room. Driven by the Lafayette KT550, Audio Space int amp or quicksilver monoblocks, the Chatsworths have a very seductive and smooth midrange which is greatly improved by a pair of DIY Fostex supertweeters. The Chatsworth are quite far apart (over 10 feet), the image isn't at its best. They were placed about 8 to 10 inches from the wall which reinforce the bass. The Lafayette KT550 really give very fast bass, in contrary to other Tannoys that I have auditioned in the past. I have listened to a few pairs of Tannoy speakers from Canterbury, Lancaster to York, but I must say that John's system is the most impressive. Hon |

| [#9973] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user IMHO, Vintage Tannoy older the model, bigger the british sound, warm and slow. For this reason I must say that most of the british amps won't sound the best. Western Electric 300B, 275A, VT52..etc can give a wider sound stage and faster response. Of course, German Triode will be good too, clean and vivid. |
