| [#10305] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user LS3/5A is UK made speakers. I have no Spendor BC1, Tannoy.... other UK speakers but I do own a JBL 4312A. Honest to say, other set up are for reference. We choose our set up to suit our tastes. |

| [#10308] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user samkee hing, Perhaps JBL experts can comment, but my limited experience with JBL is that JBL doesn't give very punchy bass. They have deep bass, heavy bass but not punchy bass. I have 4311 now driven also by MC240. Deep and punchy bass to my ears, but in terms of punchiness, it loses out to AR and Klipsch, even to LS3/5a; and the 4310/4311 series probably gives the most punchy bass amongst JBL speakers. A good condition MC240 shall be able to give very good bass, you may want to check the condition of the 240. If a good condition 240 can't give you a deep and punchy bass, I don't think a Leak amp could do any better (Gingers may disagree). Try a good solid state amp. With your system, I would believe the limitation is more on the speaker. |

| [#10317] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user I am using both the US amplifier (Mcintosh MC 240) & the UK (leak 12.1, Quad II) and I must say both has its own characteristics with the former having more punch and enegry while the latter having more depth and smoothness. My MC240 matches very well with my previous Altec 604E as well as the LS3/5A with the former having more base..which is of course are characteristics of the speakers.  |

EICO HF-60 gets 80 marks in terms of my PERSONAL fondness. Having made the above crude comparison, I warned myself that we may fall in the trap of comparing KT66 amps with EL34 amps, an apple with an orange. After continuous use (run in the power trans and NOS parts) for some time, I am happy that my pair of HF-60 now sound much more relaxed and authoritative than before with the LS3/5A's. :) |

It also depends on which type of music being played, e.g. orchestral or vacal. On the other hand, we must also bear in mind that, in money terms, Eico HF60s are approx one-third of Leak TL 12.1 or 25A. |
