| [#1021] Western Electric amps and associated equip I heard the new trans-vol pot(already affixed in the 44A as in the picture)about 3 weeks ago, I was not impressed, the sound was thin with little tone color, and the whole frequency response tilted upwards.I can't blame the new vol pot,cause the newly made 44A was really 'raw'. 2 days ago, I went and heard the same 44A, the tonal balance is almost perfect(Mr Wu does not always get this category right, not to mention other DIYers), the dynamic surge is overwhelming with every details coming so naturally, don't forget, its using a 80 rectifier tube and 2 ST shape 102D, and other cheap cheap component parts.I've been to Mr Wu's workshop so many times, and so familar with the set up and if there is a change in sound,I can tell which part plays the trick, and this time, its the new vol pot. |

It is also the one and only 4 Channel preamplifier ever produce in WE history. Actually, the WE40A Console also included a WE130A Duel channel main preamplifier and a WE131A monitor amplifier as well.  |
