Dr. Chan Kai Ming, you are always welcome to vist my place, I have two versions of Elgar Cello concerto LP by Du Pre, one conducted by Barbirolli and the other one conducted by Barenboim. You can feel that Barenboim version who Du Pre is much more relax, open and sparking.

Last night, listened to Medtner's piano concerto, although Medtner cannot be compared with Rachmaninov in writing melody, his concertos are passionate and in the same style as Rachmaninov. The piano part are extremely difficult, however Konstantin Scherbakov's playing was fiery and accurate. A jewel of the crown among Naxos recordings.

Thank you for your kind words, quite busy this week in setting up my own business.

Listened to Lalo's Symphony espanole last night played by Sarah Chang, I have another versions by Vengerov (yes, Vengerov again), this time I found Sarah Chang more convincing. Vengerov account was very passionate, and not afraid to push his violin tone to limit. However his violin tone sound rough, especially when compare with Sarah Chang silky tone. Sarah Chang stike the right balance between sense and sensibility, and her technique was simply faultless, and she bring out last ounce of spanish spirit, I really love her playing in this long neglected work.

Listened to another fine issue from Naxos last night. Dohnanyi's music sound like a modern Brahms, his music was tuneful and have a complex texture, recording from Naxos was first rate, a memorable new experience for me.
