| [#10910] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Dear all, I was in KY place yesterday listening to his BBC Leak 12.1 pairing with Fisher 400CX driving Rogers LS3/5A 11 ohms. While I was trying to get the right word to describe the sound KY mentioned the word "Silky" and I immediately connected with my brain. Yes, the sound is Silky. I learned a new word to describe sound. I am not too sure which is the origination of this sound as this is the first I heard the 12.1 and 400CX. But I am very sure that is not come from the Rogers 11 ohms. The characteristics of the sound tell me that when pair with Chartwell, it will be singing even more wonderful sound. A pair of Chartwell will enter KY place soon :-) I reached home 1 am after leaving KY place. 4 hrs + driving was indeed tiring but the sound of 12.1 still linger in my brain. Thanks KY for his hospitality and I sure I will be BACK! :-) Ace  |

| [#10911] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user KY loves the look of Leak 12.1. To have better visual comfort to his eyes,he place one with BBC logo facing the front and one with the huge transformer facing the front. Beside it sound, 12.1 looks kill too :-)  |

You will be pleased to know that the parallel additional filter capacitor has been removed. After changing a few of the resistors, the hum sound has dissapeared without the need for the additional filter. I will take your advice to change for the few capacitors mentioned. Any recommendation on the brands? Thanks for your kind comments. |

| [#10924] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Also from my limited eperience that hum of 12.1 almost due to inssuficient capacitance of the leakaged filter cap box, or/and inferrior chassis ground contact etc, and parallel some or an additional condensor to the original's is one of the correct methods, but should beware it will have 10% to 15% B+ voltage raised.. ^^ |

| [#10925] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user You so lucky that just changing a few of resistors can made the hum disapeared.. ^___^ ------------------------------------------------- Sorry, I may be over simplifying the process. The fact is that 林肯 Sifu (9627 9442) took several hours to check which areas need to be fixed and he has recommended changing a few of the resistors as well checking on the various soldering points, contacts as well as some other tasks. Overall, the process took several hours. I am not competent to do any of these electrical work. : ) |
