| [#11170] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Thanks Alex and Dr. King.. ^___^ i in fact propose a simpler solution. get a IC to simulate an input transformer. this will give about 10K input impedance. that should be o.k. for most decent preamps. it will cost peanuts and you will have a lot fun. might even sound better. by the way, i wasn't really blown away by the combo. it is decent just because the other 2 are quite hm.... less than optimal should i say. |

| [#11182] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Buying vintage amps for use and buying for collection are 2 different things. Sound may not be the primary reason. There could be too much for practical use, but never too much for collection unless you have duplications. The themes for collection are value, rarity and full series. I do not collect vintage amps but I collect Mont Blanc and Parker fountain pens. There may be individual issues which are not as great as other models but you still need them to complete a series collection, e.g. the great writers series. The Dumas issue with the wrong autograph doesn't write better than the right one, but both are collector's item in the writers series. |

I really mean why we should set a deadline to complete a collection. A good collection has no time limit to complete, only the urge. But still in my opinion, if you collected 90% of a series, it is a regret not to have a complete one. The appreciation of the different design, workmanship etc. within a series of products and different stages of a company is already a joy. I just express my opinion; there is no intention to exert any pressure, or could I? |

But isn't that also apply to all your Leak amp other than the TL12.1 and TL25A? Therefore, you might as well get the 2 to complete the collection. |
