| [#1344] Western Electric amps and associated equip Ricky, 44A is unique in sound and overall performance because of the ball 102 and 205 tubes, in other words, if ST type tubes are used in 44A, the sound will be very different.Most vintage and current productions use later developed twin-triodes such as ECC8x series tubes,no matter how good is the design, still they sound like ECC8x tubes, but not ball tubes. |

| [#1352] Western Electric amps and associated equip Mullard DO24,earliest version of PX25, my pair has pointed top and balloon shape, larger in size than the normal balloon PX25. It sounds very very clear in Mr Wu's 41+42 version PX25,perhaps too clear and the tonal balance is not right,a bit disappointed. I have used these tubes in my previous SE power(262A+WE205D+DO24, trans coupled with all WE trans and ckokes), the sound is very different from what I heard today.Anyway, the PX25 amp I heard today is better than the clone WE86,however, the champion is still the 131A with all WE tubes in place. |
