[#1405] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Now listening to Tomaso Antonio Vitali's Chaconne played by Nathan Milstein at youtube. Not too familiar with this composer but it sounds complicated yet impressive. There is also one performed by Sarah Chang: Sounds smooth than Milstein, is it because performed by a female? But I thought both are good. Will probably bought Sarah Chang's available in 'Sweet Sorrow'. As a beginner in classical music, any additional thoughts from high hands?

[#1414] What are you listening to? ![]()

[#1415] What are you listening to? ( classical mus 邊個邊個, Although Karajan was a German, his Russian repertoire was very impressive indeed. His Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev symphony was among the very best, the brass section under his baton was earth shaking.

[#1416] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Last night, listened to Ravel's piano concerto played by Zimerman. In the past, I honored Michelangeli's Ravel piano concerto as the best version, but Zimerman took his place after the release of this disc. Zimerman playing was most dreamy, most seductive which was in contrast to Michelangeli `ice cool' perfection, Zimerman was more humane. Recording was todays best standard. ![]()

[#1418] What are you listening to? ( classical mus 蕭氏第十係未重係蘇共工具? It was written after the death of Stalin, the tight control on Shostakovich was loosen, so it was more appropriate to consider it as a strugle against the communist culture.

[#1420] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Last night listened to Beethoven's piano sonata No 28& 29 played by Pollini. Like his mentor Michelangeli, he pay attention to every detail, although some may consider his approach too clinical, I found him convicing and honest in Beethoven's late piano sonata. I was especially impressed by his ability in handling micro dynanmics, all in all, Pollini is one of the best pianist today, but he may not be the best musician. ![]()

[#1421] What are you listening to? ( classical mus When times(weather) get rough, it is always soothing to listen to J.S Bach, esp his keyboard music. This time it is the Italian Concerto, and Choral Prelude played by Alfred Brendel. Initially I thought Brendel would be boring, but not this recording. His playing was lyrical with traces of romanticism that brought freshness to Bach's music. Futhermore the recording sound is splendid with the piano tones and overtones captured naturally.
