| [#1430] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Got a few records from the Hi-Fi show. Schumann Papillon played by Wilhelm Kempff, a DGG tulip LP,great sound. Delicate and sensitive playing from Kempff truly reflecting the fluctuating and neurotic mood of this piece. Brahms piano concerto 2 played by Claudio Arrau and Bernard Haitink. Heavy and slow playing from Arrau. though the technique is solid, just not my cup of tea. |

| [#1432] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Bought this CD yesterday, very enjoyable despite I only come across Fantaisie Impromptu, Etude No 3 and Ballade No 1 op 23. Others are good such as Etude No 5 Black Keys, No 12 Revolutionary and No 23 Winter Wind. Haven't heard of this musician Tamas Vasary but sounds good even it is a 60s and 70s recording. The price is very affordable only $85 and there is a host of rerelease from this series, worth discovering.  |

| [#1433] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Tamás Vásáry (born August 11, 1933) is a Swiss pianist and conductor of Hungarian birth. Vásáry was born in Debrecen and gave his first public performances at the age of eight. He studied with ErnQ Dohnányi and Józef Gát at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, and was later assistant there to Zoltán Kodály, who made him a gift of a Steinway grand piano. Vásáry won the Franz Liszt Competition in Budapest in 1948. Having left Hungary in 1956 and settled in Switzerland, he made his débuts in the major cities of the West in 1960 and 1961. He has subsequently lived in Finchley, London, England. He has made many recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, particularly of the Romantic repertoire, especially Chopin. He has also been Music Director of the Northern Sinfonia and Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Sinfonietta, and has guest conducted many of the principal British orchestras as well as appearing regularly in the United States and elsewhere as pianist and conductor. ( classical mus Last night, after watching a very informative program on Russia history development, I started to understand why the tone of Shostakovich's music are so bitter and dark, they simply live under a slave system for five century. Barshai conducting was by no mean equal to Karajan, but it was full blood Russian playing that reveal the anger of people.  |

( classical mus Incidentally listened to Shostakovich symphony NO. 5 played by Kyril Kondrasin and Moscow Symphony, a Melodya recording with exceptional sound and intepretion. Somehow the Russians know what their people had suffered and this reflect in the mood of the playing, dark, despair in the middle movements, anger and explosive in the final. |

( classical mus 賽爾（George Szell，1897-1970）、維也納愛樂加上鋼琴家古爾達（Friedrich Gulda，1930-2000）這樣的組合下，所演出的《皇帝》令人充滿期待和想像，Andante特殊的企劃，讓購買者可以選擇聽音樂或觀賞影像，也是個有意思的創舉。年中時，代理商進過一次，後來歷經Andante的「風雨飄搖」，隨後就無聲無息，所幸在年底又見進口。 專輯中的DVD為黑白影像，1960年代的錄影，現場應有3部以上攝影機取鏡，古爾達那時候還很正常（至少不會裸體演出），演奏完後，指揮和鋼琴家兩人的互動不是很熱絡，我個人很喜歡這個時期古爾達清澈的琴聲，至於他和賽爾搭不搭配，那是另一個層次的問題，對我來講，忽略掉也沒關係。 多年前曾買過一張古爾達邊演奏邊指揮的《皇帝》LD，那個晚年的古爾達還會在演奏舞台上又叫又吼，對照1960年代的他，真是有天壤之別。  |

( classical mus 此碟基本上是16年前Decca Historic系列的複製品，每個樂章收錄的時間分秒不差，不過，儘管是複製品，16年後新版的音質卻沒有當年來得飽滿，尤其第四號鋼琴協奏曲的差異最明顯，然而透過它複習這個名盤，還是很令人感動。 戰後加盟Decca後的巴克豪斯（Wilhelm Backhaus，1884-1969），灌錄協奏曲喜歡找維也納愛樂搭配，從貝多芬、布拉姆斯、莫札特到舒曼無一例外，在他全盛時期也很幸運地遇到指揮家克勞斯（Clemens Krauss，1893-1954），讓這個單聲道版的貝多芬第四、第五號協奏曲不朽，克勞斯的奶O比漢斯舒密伊瑟斯泰德（Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt，1900-1973）更勝一籌，後來的立體聲錄音，管弦樂的味道就差了釵h。  |

( classical mus 晚年的霍洛維茲（Vladimir Horowitz，1904-1989）一直嚷著要灌錄協奏曲，一度考慮過蕭邦或李斯特的作品，但最後竟出人意料之外地確定錄製莫札特協奏曲K488。霍洛維茲的傳記中曾提到，他原本對莫札特敬而遠之，是布梭尼改變他的想法。因此在這個錄音計劃裡，霍洛維茲決定採用布梭尼為K488寫的裝飾奏。錄音地點選在義大利米蘭，唱片公司請來朱里尼指揮史卡拉歌劇院管弦樂團與霍洛維茲搭配，當時，朱里尼為照顧病榻中的愛妻，因此將錄音安排在義大利，這也促成雙方的合作。 1987年，錄音前的霍洛維茲原本還一度改變主意，說自己想演奏的是K333，後來這份錄音足足磨了10天的時間才完成，聽過這個錄音的樂迷應該會同意，霍洛維茲在這個演出中站穩了主導的地位。朱里尼雖然是莫札特權威，但遇到霍洛維茲就是沒輒。例如，兩人對終樂章有意見上的分歧時，朱里尼拿出總譜來證明自己的見解是正確的，但霍洛維茲竟然說，不管啦，我們各玩各的，他甚至抱怨朱里尼太守舊，兩人在速度的見解也南轅北轍，朱里尼儘管不滿，但最後仍只能讓步，這份錄音最終在霍洛維茲的強勢表現下完成，DG還將錄音過程拍成影片，並發行DVD。  |

( classical mus DG的Originals系列新譜出爐，鋼琴家波里尼（Maurizio Pollini）與指揮家貝姆（Karl B鐬m，1894-1981）灌錄的貝多芬第三、四號鋼琴協奏曲也在列，其中的第三號真的是名演中的名演。DG其實還有很多好的錄音被埋藏在寶庫中，但老是再版一些「老面孔」，樂迷有一天還是會感到厭倦。 總之這個70年代錄音值得收藏 , 但他九十年代和阿巴多合作的 4D 錄音 , 才是一個惡夢 , 錄音差及帶點遲滯 , Abbado 和柏林樂團沒精打彩的体奏 , 聽完這套高價位貝多芬鋼協 , 我覺得波里尼己退步及力不從心了 我很喜歡這裡的貝多芬第三號鋼琴協奏曲，在此波里尼與貝姆配合的很感人，展現出一種果決的味道。特別是管弦樂不拖泥帶水卻溫暖的伴奏，襯托出鋼琴音色的晶亮，在不崩壞架構的前提下成母蝟y出對比。 Pollini所詮釋的第四號鋼琴協奏曲，我覺得也算是非常不錯的錄音，Pollini呈現著古典節制彈奏風格，十分呼應著這首曲子的樣式，且貝姆的溫暖細膩的伴奏支持，算是一個很棒的第四號錄音，缺的話可以買一張  |

( classical mus 伯恩斯坦（Leonard Bernstein，1918-1990）在DG錄下的柴可夫斯基所有作品，將集結在「THE LEONARD BERNSTEIN COLLECTORS EDITION」系列發行。這裡的第六號《悲愴》，當年出版時「轟動武林，驚動萬教」，全長58分31秒（他的老師萊納的RCA版總長才45分15秒），錄製於1987年，被稱為伯恩斯坦的《悲愴》「再創作」，或他將《悲愴》「安魂曲化」，伯恩斯坦的第一樂章長達22分34秒，普列特涅夫的DG版也不過才18分49秒，終樂章17分12秒落差更大（11分32秒）。 新版的推出，也意味著舊的高價版即將走入歷史。 另，伯恩斯坦與齊瑪曼（含齊瑪曼自己擔任指揮的第一、第二號）的貝多芬鋼琴協奏曲錄影，即將再版DVD。  |
