[#14514] Leak TL/50+ Restoration Just posted a message at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hjleak/message/22055 ------------------------------------------- Re: Leak TL/50+ ~ ECC81 version Restoration Hi all My pair of ecc81 version TL/50+ are also in restoration. They are early champagne 117V version. Only one of them came with with heat shield. My pair of TL/50+ http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/Leak_Amp/ResizeofPair.jpg? t=1174792638 http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y240/Leak_Amp/ResizeofPair2.jpg? t=1174792509 One of them look quite original to my eyes. Please have a look on C9 & C4. C4 is 0.25uF and C9 is 0.1uF. The C3 is 1MFD. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y184/Misc_hk/Resizeof2007.jpg? t=1174800518 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y184/Misc_hk/Resizeof2040.jpg? t=1174800820 According to http://werple.net.au/~kiewavly/Leak/Circuits/tl50Plus.gif C9 and C4 are all 0.25uF and C3 is 4uF. May I know whether my TL/50+ are different version? I also looked at Page 159 of our Leak bible ~ Stephen Spicer's famous Firstsin high fidelity. C9 look like to be a 0.1uF. Your advice is most appreciated. Thank in advance. John Keung

[#14517] Leak TL/50+ Restoration Gingers, Regarding your enquiry. I think it is even more crucial to find out if the pair of output transformers are of the same version. LEAK usually had transformer part number printed on the plastic band seal. Are the numbers the same?

[#14529] Leak TL/50+ Restoration Ace hing, Still learning. Not have a chance to compare them thoroughly. Mullard GZ34 has been the main one I use lately. This is a very steady rectifier with enough guts to push all kinds of music. Mullard GZ37, I only tried it briefly, not as solid and as GZ 34 above. I might not have allowed it to run in enough. Cossor 53KU I received last Fri. Very open and powerful tube, has more air and width than the Mullard GZ34. The rest, I have not tried them yet. As said, I am only a beginner, don't laugh if I said something wrong!
