| [#14650] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Need different 6550 and GEC KT88 to dig out the best of the 50+. To me the joy came from the vintage tube amplifiers also included the restoration though it never is an easy job to me :-)  |

| [#14655] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Leak TL/12與Leak ST-20 是否同一線路,只係mono 與 stereo之分嗎? ----------------------------------------- TL/12 Plus Introduced around 1956, this amplifier replaced the TL/12. The amplifer is a lot smaller physically than the TL/12, as it used the new "9-pin" power valves in the output stage configured in "ultra-linear" mode instead of the inefficient but very linear triode-connected KT-66's of the TL/12. Power output was 12 Watts, and distortion 0.1% of course. The output transformer secondary was wound as one winding with taps at the relevant places for 4, 8 and 16 Ohms, in contrast to the TL/12 which had for separate secondaries which could be configured for various loads. The power supply uses electrolytic cpacitors, and the small filter choke in the TL/12 circuit was replaced with a much cheaper 100 Ohm / 5 Watt resistor. Other circuit toplogy remained basically similar to the TL/12. The Stereo 20 is basically a stereo version of this amplifer. http://home.mira.net/~kiewavly/TL12.html  |

| [#14656] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Stereo 20 -------------------------------- This amplifier is basically a stereo version of the TL/12 Plus, however the input stage differs in that it uses one half of a 12AX7 twin-triode in each channel instead of the EF86 -pentode used in the TL/12 Plus. In addition the driver stage is a 12AX7 instead of the lower-gain 12AT7 of the TL/12 Plus. The amplifier is one of the most common Leak amplifiers on the second hand market, as 10 Watts per channel was considered adequate with the efficient speakers of the day. The amplifier sounds good, and doesn't become harsh when clipped. The power transformer runs very warm, and can leak wax out from the bottom if operated for long periods on hot days (above 30 Celcius ambient). The author knows of several amplifiers in which the power transfomer has failed (in Australian conditions). The amplifer shown above has 4mm banana sockets instead of the original screw terminals for speaker connections. Shown the the right is a final inspection tag fitted at the factory to a Leak Stereo 20 amplifier, dated 20 Oct 1964. At this time, the Stereo 20 was being shipped in dark metallic grey livery with cream lettering . | [#14669] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user I was told the Leak TL/50 Plus was the FIRST KT88 amplifier in the audio history. I am grateful to Alan who took this quad of KT88 for me to audition. BTW, I am most GRATEFUL to limage who lent his quad of GE 6550 for me until the arrival of my KT88/ 6550 etc I still recall Richard also lent me his pair of 6V6 for my 25A :-) 朋友有通財之義 膽友有通膽之情 銘感心中  |
