The room selected for the match was perfect with small speakers. It was one of the rare cases of full room coupling and the effects were devastating. I have yet to hear another 3/5A to perform half as good! |

I've heard this saying many times but yet to have the opportunity to verify that first hand. I thought it might be fun just to do it once again. Anyhow even our 3/5a guru hasn't heard this and it's worth doing for the 3/5a aficionados to have a peace of mind. Just for reference, what amps were you using in that particular test? For me, I'm just a rubbish collector and try to build a reasonable system out of the cheap cheap stuff. Nonetheless, some of the cheap stuff happen to be giant killers and it's fun sometimes watching the ambarrassment of the big spenders (spendor is the target this time) and the big shots who bluffed how great their systems are. Kind of psychic, right. As for you, you came out to be a giant in the audio field and no doubt you will be one of the targets of the scavengers. Whilst it may not be possible to rival your setup and equipment, I'm trying hard to understand what the hell room coupling is and am getting theories to back it up; the same process goes that I am trying to disprove it. So beware. Studying and collecting is fun; but frankly I'm too lazy for that and in fact I spend most of my time enjoying music. BTW, are you getting your 3/5a out or not. |

| [#15046] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user CP, It was a fairly big event in which the panel, consisting of Leo Fung, Chan Ying Kwong, a couple of Owls and myself, was trying to sort out the best of the best “bookshelve” of the time, to wit Rogers 15 ohm, Celestion 600, Spica and Artician. The whole thing lasted a week. Amplifiers were ARC SP-8 mated with Marantz 500, finely tuned up for the test. I guess nothing more needs to be said regarding the fiery debate of the time since what we have now left is the ubiquitous 15 ohm 3/5a. |
