( classical mus Listening to Furtwangler's live account of Beethoven Symphony No.3 (1944) with VPO, German Maestro Furtwangler rejuvenated this masterpiece with eloquent structure, spontaneous nuance, inevitability and angst feeling (at that time Nazi German almost defeated, German was in absolute desperation), the death-haunted yet varied tempo in 2nd movement drive listener hysterical indeed! Highly recommended to all Beethoven Sym lover! a definite version apart from the readings of Klemperer and Wand! The remaster engineer 平林直哉 adopts the 1950's vinyl (URANIA)as a master, instead of those defective and degrading original magnetic tape, sonic quality is bloom and lush with acceptable noise.
