[#16740] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Hi pilotrol hang. You do a great job for "古董音響史的書籍(20年代至60年代)". Please publish 近一百家古董音響公司的歷史. you waste your job if you only publish 50家古董音響公司的歷史. you can publish volume 1 & 2. Let me know when you publish this book. thanks Jeff

[#16741] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Dear Jeff Hing Honestly speaking, 50 companies history is almost the maximum numbers can be holded for this book as costing is one of my another concerns. For sure I will not waste my research, my hand writing notes will be passed on to my students for on going research in the future. Hopefully, they can do better job than I do. FYI, the book is almost done, but I still need time to key in the picture and do some art decoration for this book. In fact, I’m still selecting the right publication for this book up to this point. I will let you and other brothers know when it is ready. Best regards Alan

[#16746] Leak Club for Leakies or Leak user Fish Translation :-) http://babelfish.altavista.com/ --------------------------------------- Restoration AUDIO MASTERS of a 11A, English Vintage mono block (the original of the Mullard 5-20 output stage) - of yokes Wankmiller General: The audio master 11A mono block of the company E&A Ealing, London is based 100% industrial union on a circuit suggestion, that approx.. 1959 were published by the company Mullard. It concerns an Ultra linear Class A PP amplifier with inverse feedback over everything. What is 5-20 called? - 5 tubes, 20 W sin. Preliminary stage and phase fragments are realized with the shielded pentode EF86 and the double triode ECC83. In the output stage 2 x EL34 in Class A enterprise with auto bias through cathode resistances. The amplifier does not require alignment work or tuning ("bias"). This very rare original device (approx. year of construction 1960, not accurately verifiably) ranked at that time qualitatively at the highest end of the scale, which concerned HiFi of devices. It is exactly developed with the construction units recommended by Mullard. Remarkably are the gepotteten PARTRIDGE trafos and the PARTRIDGE Choke, as well as the two grey-green oiled paper filter capacitors 8 µF/500 V between the trafos above on the chassis. Me no further Amps is well-known from this time, the oil/paper filter C`s has; neither the McIntosh Amps nor the Quad still the radio Craftsmen 500. The output stage is extremely hum-poor, which considering the Phi filter element capacities small at first sight is amazing. The filter factor of a LC sieving with 8µF and 10 H amounts to: s=2,5/(L*C) = 0.03 (L in Henry; C in µF) If one would want to reach the same filter factor with a RC sieving, then one e.g. the combination 470 braeuchte µF with 100 ohms; in accordance with the formula s=1,6/(R*C) = 0.03 (R in kOhm; C in µF) Note: Formulas mentioned apply only to solid shaft rectification. The left to the output stage connection diagram, pdf Generally to the construction units in the audio masters: Renewed parts: The old Elkos and koppelkondensatoren were replaced caution for the sake of, since pierced koppelkondensatoren and/or bursting Elkos involve bad consequences. Tension-firmer types were inserted. The two EL34 are NOS AEG EL34, the GZ34 are a Sovtec. Originalities: Otherwise all parts are originals. I would like particularly to stress some details: The wiring and assembly of the construction units are in my opinion ideal and exemplary for each tube output stage. The EF86 and ECC83 have bases with shielding caps. Grey-green resistances it is from the structure in such a manner that they are provided with a helical carbon film, which for the time at that time is typical. This resistances are thus NOT non-inductive and affect thus very high frequencies strongly absorbing. A modern resistance does not exhibit this characteristic generally. That can lead possibly with the reproduction of a Vintage circuit to problems, which could not foresee engineers at that time. (HF schwingneigung, e.g. in the UKW range). It generally does not harm with reproductions to equip the gates and anodes of the endroehren (direct at the bases) with HF absorption throttles there are which to buy under this designation finished (e.g. Conrad). Thus one can meet problems of this kind from the front in here. Original recommendation transducer: Mullard indicated some different transducers, which can be used for the amplifier in the block letters. Here the list: Colne 03069, Elden 486, Gardners AS7034, Gilson WO866, Hinchley 1377, Parmeko P2647, Partridge P3878, Partridge P6878, Savage 4B14, Wynall W1552C Inverse feedback generally for Vintage of circuit concepts with new output transformers, if the Amp reciprocates: The topic "correct value of the inverse feedback" is a problem by the bank the all Vintage Amp of connection diagrams concerns, since the modern output transformers deviate simply in your values very strongly from the Vintage transducers. For the following proceeding the experimenter can near-grope to the best value: The inverse feedback resistance by a potentiometer replace. This is down-turned in the enterprise by the greatest possible resistance completely slowly so far, to the Amp begins to reciprocate. NOTE: The oscillation is evtl. NOT within the audible range. Attach a digital circuit analyzer therefore at the AUe; of the anode of a endroehre against mass, measuring range DC 1000 V. It should be indicated always approx. +Ub1. The DMM shows however only constantly changing announcement or tensions more than approx.. 5 V of +Ub1 deviate, then the Amp in the HF range reciprocates!!! That with this action a Billigwegwerflautsprecher is attached and NOT e.g. a sound film KL406 or a Lowther cobalt bomb understands itself, automatically. If the value is found with that the Amp straight yet does not reciprocate, one looks for a suitable resistance a value has that about 20-30% is larger than the measured value and solders him purely. - finished. This proceeding is a recommendation from "HiFi World DIY supplement", 14.Aug. 1995. The article from "HiFi World", pdf. The same proceeding is suggested also by the Mullard engineers; in the book "Mullard tube circuits" page 27 right down; "if radio frequency instability occurs... experiment with the level OF feedback." Housing layout: The layout of the original housing is available as pdf. I measured and drew the original. The Amp radiates approx.. 50 Watts at thermal energy dissipation off - ABSOLUTE the fire-place effect use, if one plans own housings. The left to the housing layout, pdf Sound: The sound of the output stage compared with modern parts developed Roehrenamps is relatively soft and emotion-filled; he saves certain craze potential. I look for over 10 years for a second mono block or the Originaltrafos; to make nix - Sie`s do not try rather only at all. Who would like the Amp clones, must fall back to other transducers. Some tension measuring points in (V) against mass with Trafospannung 410-0-410 Oelkond 1 +465 Oelkond 2 +440 Feinsiebelko Phasenspl. +410 Feinsiebelko stage 1 +160 Anode EF86 +82,5 Cathode EF86 +2,2 Anodes ECC83 +325 Cathode ECC83 +85 Anodes EL 34 +433 Cathodes output stage EL34 +32 General safety references: The structure/reproduction requires expertise within the range of electro-technology, because: By the high tensions mortal danger exists. By the high heat emission fire risk exists. Wrongly polarized Elkos explodes heftigst. Loaded Elkos is also in "OUT" the condition lethal. Vintage oil/paper caps PCB of which is krebserregend contained often. If such a thing runs out is rather bad that. In addition: Do not switch EVER a tube amplifier on, if none Loudspeaker is attached. EVER do not switch a tube amplifier on, not up Room temperature is. NEVER at the Eingangscynchstecker rumfummeln so long the Amp is switched on. That could end for the loudspeaker deadly. No adhesion for any damage and damages by the author. Much fun when copying, restoring, trying... wishes Yokes Wankmiller wankmiller440@aol.com http://www.jogis-roehrenbude.de/Roehren-Geschichtliches/Radio-Restauration/Wankmiller-Mullard-A11/Beschreibung.htm
