Highly recommend to those who likes Chopin Etude, a swaping re-creation of studies on chopin original etudes by an American Polish Godowsky, Marc Andre Hamelin renders us a poetic beauties and multi-layered by overcoming the vituosity difficulty effortlessly (even Horowitz confessed that he needed six hands to resolve this most outrageous piece). In the waltz prarphrases he make the playing more civilized, a tribute indeed to Godowsky's unfailing artistry. Warm recording proves the outstanding quality that Hyperion always promises, the liquid treble lingers on!  |

CSO one is really shine and uncommon passionated performance under Wand, it's still can be obtain in Brahms 2CD in repertire series, I spot some stock still available in Ball See Fu, ProSound and Hong Kong Records. It's amazing that you own all of the Gunter Wand recording issued by RCA (Mission impossible for me!) coz some earlier red seal versions have been deleted long ago! For his collaboration with MPO issued by Profil, only Bruckner (No. 4-5, 8 & 9) and Schubert (5, 8-9) are worthy to buy by virtue of its remarkable sonority and german school tradition, sonic quality for most live albums are superb!
