[#161] Western Electric amps and 西電胡 Duh. Did I say Gakouh? I want to try the Gakuon-II, which PSE 211, and I had the Gakouh, which is 300B PP. The 300B PP Gakuoh sounded pretty powerful driving my Rey. Not sure if 1derful Dai Lo was referring to the 211 PSE or the 300B PP one... I heard during the hif-fi show 211 PSE driving Kharma, and didn't find it impressive, though I am now sure whoever came up with the setup knows what they are doing..... Isn't it the other way around?

Gakuoh is the 300B PP. Gakuon is the 211 PSE.

Guys and tai gor's,
Thanks so much for the advice.Putting the Alpha 1 in my small place(230 ft) is certainly a challenge, or may be a waste.I heard this spk system a few times, it goes well with small power amp(300B PP) and larger ones(211 PP), the bass energy depends on the power amp used and yet there is not much differnce in the mid regardless how much power is fed into it, the designer uses 300B PP and this is a good reference for me though I don't know how large is the designer's room size.I'm now using Kondo Gakuoh, a very very powerful 300B PSE, Matthew should know how good it can do with the bass and it can handle my Horning Eufro(4 pairs 8" isobarick each side)very well. I also heard the Kondo 211PP, sound quality-wise, I like the Ongaku and I don't feel the power from this PP design.So I'll stick to the Gakuoh first and see how it works out. Still I'm new to horn spks, your expertice is precious to me.

There is no mention in WE spec which one is the hot input of the 618B, I've tried both ways and found the 'red-white' as hot is better. It seems you have asked Mr Wu to re-wire it as seen from the photo, how's the sound.
