[#161] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Thank you cande, Wand was famous for his performance of Beethoven, Bruckner and Brahms symphony. I have his complete Beethoven symphony on RCA, his view was rock solid, grand and bold, he stressed on the structure of the music, although lacking in humor and a ounce of excitment, his Beethoven must be ranked with the giant like Karajan, Toscanini and Klemperer. I am acquiring Harnoncourt and hope that it will arrive soon, Harnoncourt was ground breaking conductor, he would re-examin the score and challenge our usual belief. I hope I can tell you the difference after listening. ![]()

[#162] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Last night it was Mahler again, his symphony No.4 by Szell and Cleveland Orchestra. Compared with Rattle ( my only other version) , Szell's view was more refine, more classial restraint. Cleveland play with a chamber like accuracy and intimacy, Raskin (sorpano in the last movement) sang like an angel, make this the perfect account of Mahler's fourth symphony if ever there was one. ![]()

[#167] What are you listening to? ( classical mus People who like Bach Violin Solo Works may already have several versions. This Kremer new recording provides us a different approach... And the sounding is extremely outstanding in terms of texture, sound image and stage, probably the best record sounding of Bach Violin Solo works. ![]()

[#169] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Saturaday night, I go though some light and easy but rare ballet music, this box by Decca was really excellent, it include many work by obscure composer in 19th century in demonstrative sound quality. I have no reason to complaint but sit back and enjoy. ![]()

[#170] What are you listening to? ( classical mus Ocean - Thank you for mentioning Gidon Kremer! If I have to name my favourite musican, it would have to be Gidon Kremer. I simply cannot hide my excitement. To me, he is the most complete and respected artist. As an instrumentalist, he is never afraid of pushing the violin to the limit to serve music. As an interpreter, he never stops presenting new views on old music (and actually on all music). As a promotor, it is evident in the number of new composers featured on his concert program. As an incubator, just look at the achievement of his KremeATAbaltica. Like Bernstein, Kremer has grown out of a violinist, musician and has become a truely respected personality. I simply cannot resist any of his recording. You prompted me to venture through Kremer's interpretation of the Ciaconne last night again.

[#171] What are you listening to? ( classical mus It was Sunday yesterday, I continued my adventure on Shostakovich' s music. I choose the second of the three `War' symphony: symphony no. 8. This was probably the darkest of all Shostakovich symphony, like a requiem after war. Those who love the last movement of Mahler's symphony no.9 must love its first movement, the long melody line are yearning for the death. Although I don't have other version, I found Barshai very convincing. ![]()

[#175] What are you listening to? ( classical mus hi minpin, thanks for your attention. While nobody could replace Milstein's play of Cianconne, Kremer does provide us with another way out of Bach. I am glad to join you exploring the interpretation of Kremer.
