| [#1975] Any classical fans here? Thanks Brother Kei and doclowther for your comments. Good guide for me to select and listen to Strauss' Four Last Songs. It's good to know that my Schwarzkopf/Szell version is a good choice. JT, sorry that I didn't have time to enjoy Rostropovich's Bach DVD yet (due to busy company work). I'll let you know once I watch it (perhaps over the Ching Ming or Easter holidays). |

| [#1976] Any classical fans here? Dear Brother Kei and doclowther, I am not a fan of Kiri and don't have much of her recordings. It seems that, for most operas, there are usually better choices than Kiri's. In my limited listening experience of Kiri, I consider that she may not be the best but not bad too. In some occasions, her singing, when compared with others (for example, Freni, Scotto, needless to say Callas), does not bring out the drama. However, her Countess (Figaro/Solti), Micaela (Carmen/Solti) and Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier/Haitink) are first-rate under any comparison. Brother Kei, any recommendations for Kiri? |
